I love the little hedge puppies, they kinda look like pugs for the first little while. My father has a small breeding and rescue thing and every time there’s a batch I’m right there.

Ypu’de think it’d get old after a while, but it doesn’t

This ones very, very young though. I’m suprised they were able to get to it

That they are, spikes and all. Interestingly though the spikes are soft and blunt when born but quickly harden a bit after birth so the mother isn’t birthing a ball of nails, more like a ball covered in gummy works that then stiffen, harden, and sharpen after birth

My old hedgehog surprised me by seemingly intentionally showing me her fresh young a few days after birth. She opened up the nest when I came over to refill her water and then crawled on my lap with them exposed.

That is adorable. She must have truly trusted you in that moment. I couldn’t imagine how happy that must have made you feel.

We were suprised to see our bella feeding them in the open on her final batch before retirement. I’d physically die if that happened to me

She was fantastic and I was really worried I’d be a bad hedgehog owner. I’d only had cats, dogs, fish, and an iguana before. She died in her sleep soon after her baby was old enough to eat regular food. One of the best pets I’ve ever had, but not the smartest.
