Hi all,
When I create a new post or comment there are buttons for different formatting options (bold, italic, hyperlink, …) right above the on-screen keyboard. One of the buttons is a little circle with an exclamation mark that is called spoiler.
If I click on it, it adds three colons followed by ‘spoiler spoiler’ and then at the end again three colons. But after I publish the post or comment, I don’t see any effect or special formatting of my text. It’s just the text and that non-functional tags.
Is that a bug or is that how it’s meant to work?

Its a bug. Lemmy spoiler rendering hasn’t been implemented yet.
Its been a while, and the dev must be aware but seems to have prioritised other features so far.
The dev has prioritized things other than this app entirely, it seems, because there haven’t been any updates in nearly four months. That’s a bit long for an immature app like this.
Thanks, should have researched myself before creating yet another post for it.
Running Voyager and the spoiler in your post as well as someone’s comment spoiler render just fine. I see a “Spoiler” collapsible section that hides it.
Just wanted to help clarify that it’s a boost thing and not a Lemmy thing.
This is how it looks on my end with Boost:
Test for a spoiler in a comment.

This was brought up recently about Eternity, which was also originally a Reddit client. Eternity currently only supports Reddit-style spoilers, not Lemmy-style spoilers. How do these spoilers look to you?
Reddit-style:
>!I use Thunder now!<
!I use Thunder now!<
Lemmy-style:
::: spoiler Spoiler I use Thunder now :::
Spoiler
I use Thunder now
They look like a quote rather than a spoiler.
Interesting. So, not the exact same scenario as Eternity, as Eternity currently does render the Reddit-style spoiler as a spoiler instead of as a quote.
