That there is no perfect defense. There is no protection. Being alive means being exposed; it’s the nature of life to be hazardous—it’s the stuff of living.

  • The price is only worth it if you want a phone that stands out and is unique.

Otherwise it’s simply too expensive for what it is.

Smartphones are a mature market and outside of “status symbol” and brand considerations, it honestly makes no sense for the vast majority of people to spend more than USD $400 equivalent on a smartphone.

Even camera quality is increasingly becoming good enough on mid-range devices.

  • Definitely. I’ve been on the Threadiverse for a while now.

The problem is that ML is such a prominent instance and the lead devs are degenerate tankies.

And I don’t use the word degenerate lightly or as a generic insult.

Claiming (without irony) that North Korea is good place to live and their political system has been discredited by a vast capitalist conspiracy led by the BIA is a sign of true degeneracy. It doesn’t even matter if they are engaging in demagoguery or not.

  • The larger book-style foldables are really the ones we should be questioning, considering their price, durability issues and lack of a clear reason to exist.

I am not sure I agree.

Back in 2014/2015, we still used the term “phablet”, fast-forward ~10 years and almost all smartphones have become “phablets” with compact devices (what would be a regular device in 2014) have become extremely niche.

I’ve only used the book-style foldables in a Samsung showroom, they seemed fine, just very expensive.

The price should eventually come down.
