Can’t say I do tbh. You make it sound like if one prefers healthy foods they can’t get a craving for a burger and yet ditch the fries. To me it seems completely normal.

Preferences are rarely black and white. I prefer locally grown vegetables, yet those are not the only kind of veggies I buy.

I used TiddlyWiki (self hosted) extensively for like three years but now as I changed jobs I want to get start using just a bunch of markdown files. Editing with VS code on desktop and Markor on mobile.

Unfortunately no syncing yet because I keep my work documents in my work account’s onedrive and can’t sync it with my phone. I think there are apps that do it but I’d have to go through IT to get permission etc so haven’t done that yet

Now all I need to find is a good method for searching throughmy markdown files. The search on vs code is alright but I’d like some thing that I can quickly pull up with global shortcut like ctrl alt s or something. Maybe I’ll just make a python program to do it for me or try to find something ready-made.

Tasker task that puts sound on when receiving a txt with some string of words. Should work.

Yeah I’ve heard that xwayland is not great. But I did not have any factorial scaling, just normal 100%, nevertheless I did test esr and the standard one, though the standard is definitely a flatpack. Also just the text on the settings window was blurry so I don’t think that was the issue.

Do you remember making any tweaks? I had Debian 12 with Gnome and could not figure out how to fix blurred fonts with 1440p display.

Yeah and rebooted but it didn’t help. The settings window did state that some settings require reboot / relogging.

If I keep having the issue after reinstall I’ll make a new thread about it and maybe get some new ideas.

Man, I just installed debian 12 with wayland (Gnome or KDE can’t remember) to play around and get instant headache from blurry fonts with my 1440p display with no scaling (Firefox and settings window are blurry af). No clue how to fix it, tried out few of the things I found online and none of them works.

Next plan is to try another distro and hope for the best.

Is it literally about sitting or more that you can’t be still? My dad has tried a bunch of walking treadmills etc while coding and nothing really worked well (hard to walk while you code, messed with his wrists) until he got this chair that basically just had pedals on it. Easier to cycle than to walk and his issues went away.

I would also suggest something like a very bright Philips hue light (or other smart bulb). For me personally the bedside lamps can be problematic when sleeping sideways. And with smart bulbs you can just use whatever lamp you want.

The reason they’re black boxes is because that’s how LLMs work. Nothing new here, neural networks have been basically black boxes for a long time.

Honestly, just go with Ubuntu. If there are any problems you can very easily find answers. Second option would be the get something Ubuntu based, like Mint and Pop OS. Being based in it basically means they take Ubuntu and modify a bit to their liking but at the core they’re Ubuntu, meaning that almost everything you find for Ubuntu will work for them.

You can always switch later to something else if you feel like it.
