It comes up if you type “oss” and look down, as “OSS Document Scanner.” But if you go past the oss like “oss sc-” it says it can’t be found (because you omitted “document”). My bet is this explains why he can’t find it.
Migrating here (or maybe keeping both) from @ArcaneSlime@lemmy.ml
Will put an eternal curse on your enemies for a Cinemageddon invite.

Being annoying (so, hexbear, mostly), and posting dicks. Tbh I’m not even mad at the dickposters, I just don’t wanna see it.
having alcohol as an excuse!
No sale! If a woman says she’s drunk I’m not touching. What kind of fool do you take me for?
Personally I believe violence should only be used in defense of self or innocent people around you from imminent threats, never otherwise. Use words to fight words, use ideas to fight ideas, use fists to fight fists, guns to fight guns or knives. Straight pacifism to the degree of foregoing defense seems naive to me, but so does using violence for anything but defense from violence.
Yess YEESSS! Gabba gabba we accept you, one of us! One of us!
Honestly if you figured out lemmy you can figure out linux at least enough not to be a 95yo about it.
Use a distro that is both popular and good for beginners, like Fedora or it’s KDE spin, or Mint. There will be learning, there probably will be troubleshooting, you’re switching from something you’ve always been familiar with to a new thing, it is unavoidable. It’s like moving to Mexico, you’ll need to pick up at least a little Spanish. It’s really not as hard as people make it seem, most questions will be solved by searching the problem and pasting in a terminal command, but it’s good to learn what those commands do over time. It might benefit you to use the computer more often while learning if possible.
Do it, you’ll be fine!
I’ve been known to watch a fight video there every now and again, yes.
This puts a whole new spin on Visigoths.
Thanks! This inspires confidence! Seems like it won’t be so bad!
I’m more worried about package management I guess. Though I suppose now with flatpak that may be less of an issue. Still I use some weird shit, some of it is only packaged as a .deb or .rpm on their site, like the Brother printer drivers.
And yeah the documentation lol. I rely heavily on that or places like lemmy for linux help, which is why to start I picked a really popular distro with good documentation (fedora). It’s definitely something I’ll try one day though!
You’re doing “Bob’s” work son, thank you for your service!
As a devout SubGenius myself it is my destiny to use Slackware one day but alas I fear it is currently above my skill level, more documentation will help people like me greatly! PRABOB!
It’s there, it’s just really dry jelly.
Right, “reverse racism” and “misandry” are just plain ol’ prejudice.
I guess it’s up to you whether you think being prejudice is only bad if you belong to the group systemically in power, or if you think being prejudice against someone for the circumstances of their birth is bad regardless of either party’s systemic stature, but we should be correct in our use of language.
Rarely used inkjet? If so, your ink dries before you can use it, I’ve had it happen after like 3 pages and then letting it sit, dry next time I try. Laser printers don’t do this, the toner will sit for a long time, and it seems to last longer in general.
If it isn’t that, but the brand is HP, the problem is that your printer should never have been born and should be thrown back into the fires from whence it came. Terrible, terrible printers.
Oh good to know! Maybe I’ll give it another shot, thanks!
Praise “Bob!” For we have Slack…ware! I actually haven’t tried it yet because I’m a new user running fedora and Slackware still seems above my paygrade, but as an avowed SubGenius and linux user, it is my destiny to try. I have an old laptop to try it whenever it will bring me Slack, I’m saving this thread for information purposes, thank you. PRA’BOB
(For the uninitiated, the creator of Slackware is also a SubGenius and thus he created it in the name of “Bob.”)
Windows changed shit up on me too many times, I kept having to relearn where the dick they hid the control panel, for instance. At a certain point I realized if I’m having to put in the time to relearn shit on windows every new version, why not just learn linux? At least I’m learning because I’m getting into something new and exciting by choice instead of being pissed I have to relearn it because some dickhead moved it around on me!
Yeah, that’s strange. I’m not running endeavor like you two but I’m running fedoraKDE, it’s lightning fast for me from boot to up and running, I don’t think it’s KDE I think your set up is off somehow.
A CD would be cool, but where am I ever going to use it?
I’m still mad at the lack of available disk drives to the average individual these days, and now they’re taking my fucking 3.5mm jacks!
Jesse’s Girl. My high school used it daily in an ad for some bullshit they wanted to sell, and my first 10 working years they had a radio on wherever I worked on one of three stations depending, all of which play that song at least (at least) once a day every day. (That’s at least daily and sometimes twice a day exposure to that garbage song for 14 years straight for anyone counting.)
If I hear it come on I will leave the room, and I’ll be back in 3:14. Idgaf where I am. If I have the aux (it won’t be played, but if it somehow does) I’m changing it. If I hit the lotto I’m buying the rights so nobody can play it on the radio and taking it off streaming so I can lessen the likelihood of exposure. I’ll put it for free on itunes or some shit and never strike pirates but for the love of god please don’t play it near me!
