  • The pattern-seeking brain would be driven crazy trying to predict when the next tick is going to happen, as this pattern is not easy to analyze without tools. Experienced musicians could figure out that the shortest time between beats is half the second-shortest, and perhaps figure it out from there.

Anyway, you could make a website that simulates this or generate a long YouTube video, send a link to unsuspecting people and see what they think. If you want to be extra sneaky, use rain sound as background and “close-up” recordings of single drops for the beats. If you can’t code, make sound files of all the different possible measures in Audacity and use a media player with seamless playback and naïve shuffle.

  • I once found a workaround on a trashpicked Android 5.1 phone by Huawei. There was a shitty third-party keyboard during the setup, so I tapped around and found that it has DLC themes. Attempting to download one resulted in a popup “Offline? Check network settings” with a link into the Settings app, where I could set a lock screen passcode and then remove it, which nullified FRP.

Later, I found a YouTube video with instructions for another exploit, which somehow reached Settings via the screenshot shortcut and then attempting to share it via Gmail. I imagine weird phone brands will have several exploits like this.

With some camera trickery (perhaps mounting it in a way so that it gets tilted/dollied by moving the door, plus fake camera shake to make it look less artificial), one could create a perfect loop. These do well on platforms where watch time/duration ratio is logged and videos loop unless stopped, namely TikTok.

  • I agree. As long as anonymous voting doesn’t cause obvious trolling/spam issues, it should be preferred.

One of the reasons I’ve always found Facebook off-putting and never used it (even before learning about the shady practices) are the very visible votes. I tend to overanalyse any reaction and would judge people based on their votes on my posts, even if I consciously tried to avoid it. Similarly, I imagine some other people would do the same and I’d feel like I’m under surveillance.
