Iirc, we had sex ed in 3rd or 4th grade at age 10 or 11. Maybe younger, depending on the age you entered 1st grade.
It was repeated at grade 5, I think.
I don’t remember ever asking my parents anything and they never sat me down. I don’t think anyone ever seriously told me any fairy tales or misinformation.
De_Narm@lemmy.worldtoLemmy Support@lemmy.ml•Can I see a user's total upvotes and downvotes?3·4 months agoObviously, you go to their account and calculate your own metric of worth, something like (days since register + posts + upvotes of 10 most upvoted posts). Of course, the metric should be designed to increase your own relative worth.

Assuming that’s not some default config I just don’t know, that’s actually a rather competently built config for i3 or similar. If he did that hinself he should manage.
De_Narm@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the longest you've gone without eating?8·5 months agoAbout 3 days. I do it every now and then since it does help relief a medical issue.
Interestingly, I don’t get hungry and don’t feel much difference overall. I could go much longer, but I don’t want to worry about refeeding syndrome.
De_Narm@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What piece(s) of pop media have you not consumed that people would think you weird for not having consumed yet?51·5 months agoPretty much everything? I have very specific likes and pretty much stopped consuming things outside of those, since I can’t even fit all the stuff I’m guaranteed to like.
I guess among like-minded people, Final Fantasy 7 is the most glaring omission.
For lemmy, it’s probably anything Star Wars or Star Trek.
De_Narm@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think have we taken for granted before it was enshittified?1771·6 months agoThe internet. We’ve had a solid few years, but it has become a giant heap of shit for the most part.
Back then, not everything was an AI generated, SEO, ad riddled, interaction fishing, time wasting, data collecting nightmare with auto-playing videos and a dark pattern employing cookie banner.
My homecooked meals aren’t healthy enough! My eating habits are too salty with too little vegetables.
Yeah, I’m somewhat of a health nut otherwise.

Writing letters isn’t a common thing where I live, instead we got a thick catalogue and circled everything we liked. I guess that made it pretty obvious from the very beginning.
Whether or not I’d lie to my hypothetical children… I don’t know. I guess I don’t care either way and would leave it up to my partner.
Quite honestly, I never questioned my sexuality. Naturally, I’ve been attracted to others before, I can recognize this feeling quite clearly. Which labels others put on me because of that really doesn’t matter to me, so I don’t think about them. I simply go for it if I feel attraction.
Of course, only go for it if you’re single and while it never applied to me or you in this case, don’t go for illegal things. If something like bestiality or pedophilia ever came up I would start questioning myself and consider therapy.

The colouring is shit, MacOS turns red at its peak. So, was it good or bad at that moment?
I couldn’t name a single street in the city I’ve been born in except the ones I lived in. I’ve learned to navigate the city before I could read and never bothered to read street names thereafter.
The same goes for every other city, my mental map of cities includes almost no street names. Maybe that’s because I don’t use cars at all, after all I could name bus stations and such (some of which are named after streets, I guess, but I’ve still got no idea about how they connect or even which street of an intersection actually has the name).
Honestly, the anime isn’t even good. Like, I’m still reading the manga, but I had to stop watching the anime something like 10 years ago.
I’ve heard it has gotten better since then, but watching the whole thing still includes years worth of episodes so thinly streched you could probably watch every third one without missing anything. And that’s on top of arcs so long, they are even a slog to read through (Dressrosa and Wano).
De_Narm@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone else find binaural beats actually freaking psychoactive?33·9 months agoJust looking on youtube, you can find binaural beats for pretty much anything: inflammation cure, pain relief, changing your eye colour, finding love and becoming rich. All the ones I’ve looked at feature comments from people claiming they’ve helped them.
They can’t possibly do all of the above and I don’t think there a studies proving anything but a placebo effect.
And, without truly believing in them, they never had any effect on me. I’ve tried them in my youth.
De_Narm@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•How did we move from forums to Reddit, Facebook groups, and Discord?English2·9 months agoBack on reddit, I mostly interacted with communities relating to JRPGs. There are some communities over here, but at most they post some trailers every now and then. There are also some more focussd communities about Dragon Quest, Xenoblade or SMT - all of them practically dead. I don’t think there is an instance.
I could go over to a programming related one, the german instance or even one of the vegan instances for secondary ‘interests’, but those aren’t things I often find myself posting about online to be honest. They seem to be mostly about memes anyways.
De_Narm@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think of Uncle Roger, the comedy and food reviews he does ?6·9 months agoFrom what I’ve seen he only gets up tight about food not being prepared traditionally. And like, I don’t care. As long as I like the taste, I don’t care whether or not it’s accurate.
Half my favorite foods are versions that would probably be considered war crimes in their country of origin - at least by snobs.
De_Narm@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•How did we move from forums to Reddit, Facebook groups, and Discord?English8·9 months agoUnfortunately, there is no instance matching my interests. There are a number of communities across different instances, but it seems like several people tried to make their own, didn’t interact with each other and all of them are long dead.
Once I find such an instance, I’ll switch over. I’ve been meaning to leave .world anyways.
De_Narm@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•How did we move from forums to Reddit, Facebook groups, and Discord?English741·9 months agoWhile I do agree with the problems identified, I can’t help but think they also made forums a lot better. Due to the lower discoverability and higher effort to actually join communities felt more personal. You interacted with smaller groups and came to know specific people. I still have friends from back then.
On larger platforms, I never had that. Even lemmy, which is small in comparison has enough people that I barely even think about specific users. Let alone speak with them on a personal level.
Well, and then there’s the guy who made Balatro in Lua.
