I’m just going to comment on work life - the truth is, the older I get the less I care about things like appearance. Depends on the profession of course but for f.e. office work - people don’t care. Especially not if it’s for medicall purpose (they could even have a problem with HR). I meam look at the older colleagues, they themselves look like shit, they don’t care.
But I remember my mid 20s and I was exactly the same, now I look back and it’s a bit funny. It’l be good, go for the braces :)
I had similar netbook like OP and was running Lubuntu for a very long time but afaik they dropped support for 32 bit architectures some time ago. I think 18.04 was the last 32 bit LTS? Not sure, I’d need to check it
Looking at your history, you really hate Ubuntu u/RmDebArc_5, don’t you?
Yeah I’m with you. In my case I can’t get around the cinamon gui which … reminds me of Windows 98, sorry :(
(yes, I know, calm down, I know I can install whichever interface I want but from my experience it just causes problems and at that point I might aswell just switch the distro)
Reminds me “The Wind Rises” poster
Linux users really are like vegetarians/vegans - they want you to join them and when you do, then they judge you for not being vegetarian/vegan enough
Yeah, well maybe you should put this into your graph as a choice. You might not like it but Ubuntu still has a major support for anything Linux related. Any manufacturer or software development - if they support Linux, there is a high chance that they mean basically Ubuntu, quite often they tested it just there. This is a HUGE advantage for any beginner.
Beginners don’t care about behind the curtain stuff, they just want things to work. And you might not like Canonical but Ubuntu does this
