You used to be able to order free discs of all Ubuntu variants. I remember having discs of dapper drake, edgy eft, and feisty fawn. You could order up to 10 and they would just show up in your mailbox for free to give all your friends so you could have workspaces to avoid getting in trouble at school.

Truck driving has the benefit of being able to cut expenses to near zero by going over the road if you have few obligations. Getting a cushion this way makes settling down and going local much easier, even though I make more local than I ever did over the road.

I don’t haul freight anymore either, and I don’t think that’s a long-term good prospect. Blue collar jobs where you work with the truck but have onsite work with it are a bit more resilient against automation I believe. Think wastewater cleaning, railroad, lineman, heavy haul, etc.

I have 3x 14 TB in a raidz1 setup on TrueNAS. Would take awhile to redownload but isn’t critical in any way, so I feel like that’s a good compromise.

I should give it a shot. I went with the best sounding option when googling for distros that handle scaling the best. That way I can keep resolution high for movies, but have text at 200% without certain system menus being tiny the way they were on Ubuntu with Gnome.

No, it does not just work. It removes the option to install updates manually through GUI. If Firefox was running, the only GUI solution is to close it and wait 6 hours or whatever.

My wife was perfectly fine installing updates from the tray with Synaptic. The PC is always connected to the TV with Jellyfin left open in Firefox where she was watching.

So I switched to Manjaro to have a pretty OS that isn’t getting rid of their package manager controlling the most used program.

Too late, I’m on Manjaro for the TV computer now. Super annoying when all I use it for is a browser for Jellyfin when the update popup shows up all the time and doesn’t even update when you follow its instructions.

I know and did the workaround a couple times, but updates through apt is one of the major strengths of Linux for me. Or pacman now, whatever Manjaro has.

You could always make your way outside.

Actually, if you pull up some basic formatting syntax, it’s not really slower than formatting in Word. It has presets for all the placement you need for a business letter, so you really just focus on what you want to say.
