Make sure you get one of the professional ones. In fsct when i got the first one, i went to a beauty supply store that caters to hairstylists and barbers, as opposed to going to Walmart. Not sure if it is/was bullshit, but I had heard that Walmart gets lower quality units (not unlike the claims that the TVs sold on Black Friday are poorer quality compared to regular ones). Both of mine were made in US.

Just a heads up, you can buy new blades for fairly cheap. On my old unit I replaced the blades maybe 10 years into owning it. I think because of how the blades are shaped, sharpening them might not really be possible. But I could be wrong.

Wahl hair trimmer. No nonsense hair trimmer. Made in the US. Corded so don’t have to worry about batteries failing. Been using it every couple of weeks for probably close to 15 years and only recently replaced it with another Wahl trimmer. Got my money’s worth out of the first one many times over and would highly recommend it. I expect the new one to last a similar amount of time.

It’s those damn computer makers! Damn them all to hell. They won’t pre-install, so clearly that’s what is keeping the far superior OS with single-digit marketshare. Clearly, that must be it!1!!

On the plus side, even if you did need to update Linux, it’s not like you are running anything on it anyways.

Comes with YT Premium, so not sure why I’d use anything else. Can’t say I love the app though. Seems to get worse with each update.

Who else would love to see a phone similar to the G1 get released again? Modern specs, larger screen, but a similar housing design, just less clunky.

The idea is nice and all, but just keep your phone longer. After 3 years or so, do a factory reset and reinstall ONLY the apps you actually use. That should get you a good year more out of the phone before it starts to get too old. The biggest issue is the lack of seoftware updates. Not getting a new OS is one thing, but the lack of security updates is the biggest problem. Lots of software that people use on a daily basis will stop functioning if they see your OS is behind in security. Unfortunately that’s the problem. Not the hardware, but rather the software.

Whippets are the cats of the dog world. If I were to ever get a dog, a whippet or greyhound would be it.

I always think of it like Pokemon. I want to collect them all.

Why are you pandering to a generation that has proven to be lazy and unreliable? Why not focus on better candidates to begin with and target older employees? Seems like Zoomers are getting a disproportionate amount of focus while at the same time are rather sub par when it comes to productivity.

This is what people don’t understand about electives in college. They think they are just bullshit courses that are a waste of time. You should go into picking an elective as a way to relax, learn something about a subject you are interested in but might not be all that knowledgeable about. You might come out of it with a new hobby or interest you want to pursue further. Maybe people more two dimensional.

I know people aren’t going to believe this, but honestly, you don’t need to be a bazillionaire to collect vintage cars. It sure helps (a lot!!), but depending upon what he was collecting, you can buy certain classics for (relatively speaking) cheap.

The director at my old company was into classic cars too and we would shoot-the-shit all the time about his cars and mine.

I know hating on CEOs is par for the course for Lemmy, and I tend to agree most of the time, but being fair here, it isn’t that often that lower (or even middle) ranking employees have a chance to speak to 10, 20 or 100+ coworkers at the same time.
