Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•There has to be a passive way to catch mosquitoes, right?
1·4 months agohttps://www.amazon.com/Spartan-Mosquito-Pro-Tech-Acre/dp/B09B1BP1JH
Not sure how well it works, buy my sister in law has them around her house.
That might be one of the most adorable cats I’ve ever seen, and I like cats.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Can Anyone Recommend a Weighted Stuffed Animal?
2·6 months agohttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M4JE3SA Got that for my daughter. Can be put in the microwave for a warm experience, and I seem to remember it smelling of lavender when heated.
Who is your “they” in this scenario? Because R’s sure don’t fit into that “they”.
Where do you live? Can’t imagine all the effort it would take to catch all the brown anoles in Orlando.
Was this in St. Augustine? That coquina stone is everywhere there.
And it’s so rare to see a green anole anymore, I see maybe 1/10,000 living here. Last I knew, Hawaii still has the green ones though.
The one that wants to overthrow democracy and would like to fund the ethnic cleansing at an even higher rate/amount is the fascist. The one that has encouraged Israel to go faster / do more in Gaza is the fascist. I do not like Biden’s weakness confronting Israel, but one is a cheerleader, and one is weakly pushing for caution.
One is going to be picked for you either way. Not voting doesn’t stop the shit eating from happening, just allows the lighting on fire to also happen.
By choosing the less shit option, politicians will see they need to be less shit to get elected, eventually to the point of maybe even having good candidates. Allowing the worst candidate to win tells the politicians they can get worse and still have their coveted power.
It was the 80s and early 90s, terrible clothes were the style
I think The Lockpicking Lawyer (YouTuber)has consistently put out good April’s fools videos. I do have a sophomoric sense of humor though, and they are all based on innuendo.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which YouTuber still creates high-quality videos to this day?
2·2 years agoThere’s a good number of them, but the only one I haven’t seen mentioned in this list is Ordinary Things. Only a monthly video, but they’re good.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think would happen if Putin was assassinated right now?
4·2 years agoNuh-uh, he’d be zombie Putin.
I also won’t be going back to BK, but for a different reason. I last went there around 2015, and waited for 25 minutes for them to make me a whopper. The three previous visits to different locations all had me waiting more than 15 minutes for my order. Having worked at BK before, I know that it doesn’t take 25 minutes if you had put the frozen patty on the broiler 5 minutes after I had ordered it. I could have gone into the building, placed the order, made the order myself, and still have it be under 20, being unfamiliar with the building I was walking into.
It’s a terribly sad thing, as I actually prefer them to McD.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some companies that deserve to be boycotted to death?
153·2 years agoI would like to point out that they did ask for permission. Though obviously they didn’t ask for permission from every government in the world, nor did they ask the astronomy community.

Most of the current immigration laws are due to racist intent. In the 80s they didn’t like how many Mexicans were coming across the border each year to do farm work. The workers would come, stay while there was work to be had, and then return home. When new laws were enacted making it harder for workers to get across the border, there came a class of people that would sneak the workers across. And this came with a fee from the workers. Now it costs them more to get here, so they need to stay longer to make up the money. It became easier to just find a place to live in the US all year round.
The US needs the Mexican workers. To simultaneously demand help, and punish them for showing up to help is dumb, and I suspect fueled by racist thoughts. The immigrants boost our economy, help feed our population, and are less likely to break laws that citizens. There’s a whole (probably many) book about it, and it’s even in comic form. https://www.amazon.com/Open-Borders-Science-Ethics-Immigration/dp/1250316960
While we need to know who is coming across our border to prevent spys and terrorists, the current laws make those entrants easier to hide, as there is now a whole industry to sneak people across.
