  • I would learn to sing, fly a plane, restore a car, dive deep into music writing and production, Id learn After Effects, make fan edits of my favourite films, I’d grind to get decent at racing Sims, I’d get back to writing my crappy alt history sci-fi novel, I’d try to get into board games, I’d try to reconnect with my family and I’d spend more time with my friends, and I’d try to build a house and make it run as much on renewable energy as I could, and have efficient heating.

Then there’s all the languages I wanted to learn - French, Italian, German…

So much I could do. I would cook a lot more, I like the food I make, and so do others who’ve tried it, I just wish I had the energy and time to cook more.

  • No profit in that, though, so doubt any corpos will do it.

But in theory it should not be hard to do, there has to be a way to extract YT’s subtitles by scraping the page in something like Selenium (might be some trouble if they are really generated at runtime or in batches rather than once per video at upload and sent from backend during beginning of playback and simply made invisible in the source), then simply run a summarize prompt on the text to a local Mistral or w/e and have a result. If using 'Open’AI’s API, could even have it be a Firefox extension with mobile support.

  • Oh I just thought if this change to Wayland is being pushed so hard by peeps here then that would mean at least the basics work on it haha, well that makes sense.

    Not sure why

Don’t really know what the technical differences are as I’m not a Linux expert by any means especially not when it comes to the relationship between the kernel and the display server, (Def gonna try to learn more with LFS soon tho!) or why Wayland hasn’t added support for window managers yet.

Gonna have to stick with Xorg until the Wayland folks make Xorg software compatible
