That’s a lot of work. Thanks though.

Is there a way to do reverse tunnels, or something like it, so not opening any ports at all on the network, without cloudflare?
Closest to that XP I got was generating VPN keys and distributing them to close friends, running DDNS (no-ip) on my Pi with a pivpn server and then accessing JellyFin that way.
Do you maybe mean snap?
Docks of New York and The Cabinet of Dr.Caligari are also really cool silent age movies
I would learn to sing, fly a plane, restore a car, dive deep into music writing and production, Id learn After Effects, make fan edits of my favourite films, I’d grind to get decent at racing Sims, I’d get back to writing my crappy alt history sci-fi novel, I’d try to get into board games, I’d try to reconnect with my family and I’d spend more time with my friends, and I’d try to build a house and make it run as much on renewable energy as I could, and have efficient heating.
Then there’s all the languages I wanted to learn - French, Italian, German…
So much I could do. I would cook a lot more, I like the food I make, and so do others who’ve tried it, I just wish I had the energy and time to cook more.
Great, now you just need a planet with a green sky that looks suspiciously like a studio background
I actually don’t like the '90s stuff they made. Their album War Music in 2019 and the 2020 Malignant Fire single songs are amazing though, and I love Useless Europeans from the Freedom album as well.
If anyone else here ever tried Refused but didn’t get it, try their modern stuff, it’s way different, lyrics hit harder and the production sounds more similar to that loud Samurai feel in CP2077.
Honourable mentions: Bad Religion and The Clash
I am already in the woods on Windows 7
Jerboa!
No profit in that, though, so doubt any corpos will do it.
But in theory it should not be hard to do, there has to be a way to extract YT’s subtitles by scraping the page in something like Selenium (might be some trouble if they are really generated at runtime or in batches rather than once per video at upload and sent from backend during beginning of playback and simply made invisible in the source), then simply run a summarize prompt on the text to a local Mistral or w/e and have a result. If using 'Open’AI’s API, could even have it be a Firefox extension with mobile support.
Unless you use it daily, I think that’s something I’d struggle with memorising, I’d just alias it tbh along with ls options
Oh I just thought if this change to Wayland is being pushed so hard by peeps here then that would mean at least the basics work on it haha, well that makes sense.
Not sure why
Don’t really know what the technical differences are as I’m not a Linux expert by any means especially not when it comes to the relationship between the kernel and the display server, (Def gonna try to learn more with LFS soon tho!) or why Wayland hasn’t added support for window managers yet.
Gonna have to stick with Xorg until the Wayland folks make Xorg software compatible
Wayland doesn’t even support i3? Jesus
crunchy roll
Ye if it’s a website it’ll auto-refresh sometimes and start playback as the cached buffered chunks age
Or they could develop the API in such a way it doesn’t break every app for no reason. See the situation with PulseAudio for example.
Either way, hard to believe Wayland is still useless all these years later, can’t even run Plank :(
What’s Sway? Another twm?
Damn that’s a shame. Hopefully Wayland gets rewritten so middleware stops breaking compatibility for the end-user
I’ve never heard of either of these things and I’ve been in the community for decades, cheers. I only use Plank itself, not dash-to-x anything. I’ve no idea what that even means tbh as I’m an i3 user usually so I’ve been out of the GNOME game for a bit.
A cassette on one of those small kid stereos, later it was my mom reading me stuff. I don’t know if I could listen to music falling asleep but nowadays I have YT videos on and lots of white noise to drown out the crackhead neighbours upstairs.
