  • I feel like you must be lucky. My parents had a Dualit intending to never need to buy another toaster, but it was so often away being repaired they had to buy a cheap one for the interim. We had 2 Dualits at work and same problem. One of them has been permanently trashed now. They also take SO LONG to toast?!

    I got a mid-range Kenwood 4 years ago and it’s going strong.

“we are objectively better off now than at any other time in history.”

Is that true? Not here in the UK… It’s almost impossible to get an NHS dentist now so people are living in pain. My parent’s generation were the last to easily be able to buy a house. The climate has changed very rapidly (I experienced 40°C heat in my city last year which is unheard of. It was 32°C yesterday which used to be unheard of but is now quite normal). I couldn’t afford to heat my home last winter, even though I earn a decent wage. We have asylum seekers crossing the channel in thousands because their homes are unlivable. This isn’t like any other time in history, we already peaked.

  • This isn’t true, I’ve made more friends in my 30s than at any other time in my life.

The best way to meet people is through shared interests and seeing the same people regularly over and over, without having to make arrangements beforehand. I met most of my current friends through work and music. I love my job and it attracts really interesting people. I love drum and bass and am lucky to live in the epicentre of the dnb scene, so I see the same people over and over again at events. My network of people has just grown from there.
