The trick is to work for yourself instead of for someone else. This is what hobbies are for obviously those can be difficult to achieve under the current system of work for literally every goddamn fucking hour of your life other than sleep and eating but I assure you there is plenty of fulfillment to be found doing something for yourself and sometimes depending on what it is you find a passion for you can even turn it into a little side hustle job to make some extra money
They are amazing but at the end of the day they are still humans and they can make mistakes. In the YouTube video referenced one of the C devs is heavily against rust.
Decided to go look for CVEs from code the guy manages (Ted Ts’o) I found these
CVE-2024-42304 — crash from undocumented function parameter invariants
CVE-2024-40955 — out of bounds read
CVE-2024-0775 — use-after-free
CVE-2023-2513 — use-after-free
CVE-2023-1252 — use-after-free
CVE-2022-1184 — use-after-free
CVE-2020-14314 — out of bounds read
CVE-2019-19447 — use-after-free
CVE-2018-10879 — use-after-free
CVE-2018-10878 — out of bounds write
CVE-2018-10881 — out of bounds read
CVE-2015-8324 — null pointer dereference
CVE-2014-8086 — race condition
CVE-2011-2493 — call function pointer in uninitialized struct
CVE-2009-0748 — null pointer dereference
Do you see a pattern in the type of error here? It’s pretty much entirely memory related and right in the wheelhouse of something rust would just outright not allow short of just slapping everything into unsafe blocks.
The Old Guard is not perfect, and they are acting as a barrier to new talent coming in. Sometimes change is good and I’m heavily in the camp that rust one of those times. Linus seems to agree as he allowed the code into the kernel which he would never do lightly or just because it’s fomo
I’m actually using a cheat freezer, it’s brand new too lol. I’m pretty sure the ice-cream gods just hate me
Where are you finding this magic ice-cream. I fucking love soft fluffy ice-cream but everything i buy turns to stone in short order.
If you use the default piped instance then it’s usually overloaded. You can either try finding an alternative or just host your own, personally I do the ladder I rented a VPS for 20 bucks a month and I host my own pipe there
There is libretube for using piped as an app on Android
This, I have been using it for many many years. I wouldn’t call it perfect but it’s better than the other options in my opinion
If we didn’t already have the perfect option that is bitwarden I would probably go for this. But there’s really no reason to switch away from bitwarden to this. It’s open source, gets regularly publicly audited, and nothing ever leaves your device unencrypted. So even if they had their data center broken into and all machines stolen physically I wouldn’t have to worry about my passwords

I mean bisexual and lesbian women would still exist so I don’t see why the concept of being slutty wouldn’t.
I’ll admit I don’t really understand the concept of wanting to dress a certain way but also not wanting anyone to look at you for it? Like, I give a very little fucks about what people think I have gone to the store in my robe (sweats and basic tshirt under) in the winter before. I know damn well people are looking at me and thinking I’m just some trashy bum for it but I don’t really give a fuck I’m doing it for me because it’s comfortable it doesn’t bother me in the slightest that they judge me for it, if anything they’re probably just jealous.
And I feel like the same should extend to women that want to dress in revealing clothing, yeah some people are going to look at you for it. But why does that have to bother you? You’re doing it for you not them
Piped exists and has continued to work smoothly for me this whole time. There are many public instances but running your own is best
I just wish it would stabilize. I’ve been using it but half the time indo a docker-compose pull it breaks
I’m just some random Lord now, which theoretically will come with resources so I should be okay
Make sure it’s sending to the correct port, if you go into the audio device management of whatever your desktop environment of choice was you should notice that you have the advanced options on the HDMI to select which HDMI port it’s going to
I mean to be fair it’s still terrible. Better than the early days and in my opinion better than using Reddit which is why I’m here. But basic functionality is just awful. Trying to discover new content outside of your particular instances incredibly tedious. So many large instances won’t stop trigger happy Banning practically every other goddamn instance out there which isn’t helping. The whole thing that originally made Reddit popular was that it was an easy place to go to find almost any topic of Interest but I now have to hunt through many different instances to potentially find what I’m looking for on top of that the community for any one particular interest could easily be scattered across multiple different instances that don’t Federate with each other and if I subscribe to all of them I’m going to likely be subjected to a lot of repeating posts
I fully understand why a lot of people were not on board with that I put up with it because I hate Reddit more than I hate that but a lot of people will not share that opinion
Me being tech support is WHY i said that. I told my family either use Linux or leave me alone. Half of them let me install Linux and I’ve not needed to do anything in years. They are basic users aka open chrome and nothing else and unlike windows Linux doesn’t constantly kill itself over time.
I occasionally ssh in to make sure updates are still working and once to setup a new printer remotely but that’s it
I think you mean sudo pacman -Syu mesa
I didn’t realize that next Cloud was so bad, might I recommend people having issues try Seafile? Also open source and I’ve been using it for many years without issues. It doesn’t have as many features and it doesn’t look as shiny but it’s rock solid
Have a random meme from my instance
One big system to manage hvac, which needs to constantly work overtime because you built an insanely gigantic Greenhouse. To be fair that can be solved by simply not making the entire goddamn outer surface glass windows but that’s a different conversation
