I completely agree. What’s more, none of my hobbies have a lot of posts. I myself am an occasional poster at best and I’m not interested in being one of at most 4 people posting in those communities. I’m thinking about finding a third party or otherwise foss or just better reddit client and just browsing.

Lastly, it’s fucking impossible to avoid politics on lemmy, american politics especially. Even in communities that I wouldn’t say are explicitly political, people find ways to squirm in some bullshit. I’m tired, boss. Mostly I’m tired of people being ugly to each other.

  • This is gonna be my last reply in this. You just don’t understand how matter conversion, mass conservation, combustion, energy conservation, animal and plant reproduction, and many other things work. I can’t teach you middle and high school science in comments on the internet, there are better resources out there. Best of luck and holy shit please do look into it and don’t make any assumptions or judgment calls because they are all wrong.

  • I’d been using linux for work for a couple years and it was going fine. I had a pretty crappy laptop at home with limited storage and I was constantly wrestling with Windows storing update stuff, installing adware during updates, etc.

I’d heard of proton and about how well it was going with it, so I had an idea linux gaming was possible.

Eventually something happened during a windows update that required I reinstall the OS and I just pulled out the flash drive I used to install linux on my work machine and tried it out. Eventually I did have to dual boot (on a bigger drive) for some games, but nowadays I’m all linux everywhere.

  • Putting stuff in a calendar. Now that I’ve started doing it, I’m not sure how people live without it. I have too much stuff going on to remember exactly when things are happening and some of them are scheduled weeks or months in advance. Everything has to go in the calendar app. For things that are further out, I set reminders one week and one day before. Other than that, I also check at the start of every week, and ofc I check whenever I need to schedule something.
