Trainspotting (a now largely obsolete English hobby). Back when trains were a thing, nerds would gather at at the front end of the platform to write down the numbers of the engines. Exciting stuff. If you ever saw a movie called ‘The Station Agent’ with Peter Dinklage you kind of get the idea. Now a slang for a pointless, useless activity (which is where the movie about Scottish heroin addicts gets its name from).

A close second is commenting on the internet.

Stand up. As in we have to stand up to fight this or that.

Summers are wonderful, it doesn’t rain very much. We tell outsiders that it rains all the time. Oregon, USA.

If you are lost in the wilderness and a plane comes in to look check on you, do not pump your fist in the air. That is the signal you are fine and don’t need help. Learned it in a recent Mr. Ballen youtube.

I like watching them myself, 10 or 15 minutes to hit all the major plot points of a movie I’m never going to watch anyway.

I quit commenting at that site long ago but still lurk occaisionally in some technical sr’s. It became too mean.

I’ve never had a problem with flatpaks or snaps.
