I’d prefer it if the Fediverse was ActivityPub only, for convenience, but as I understand it any platform that supports federation is a part of the fediverse, no matter the protocol used and no matter if it can interact with other federated protocols.

Edit: If you think of the Fediverse as a multiverse instead of a universe it makes more sense.

I’ve been keeping an eye on Linux since the late 90s. It took me not having to use any non-Linux software or hardware on the computer in question. Currently I have two laptops running Linux, one has Windows in case I need it (which so far has turned out to be never), and I have a workstation that has Linux as a secondary OS but I’m always in Windows on that one because of software and hardware.

Or how much time you spend on Lemmy. When I hit my pockets of ADD procrastination I run out of active content on All pretty quick.

Yes, but context matters. Not that I have any statistics, but I would assume the Fediverse as a whole is predominantly white to an almost absurd degree. Had someone who represents a very small minority in Bangladesh turned to the Bangladeshi people to adress concerns of racism they experience all over Bangladesh from Bangladeshi people I would hardly call that controversial.

I hear you, and in general I absolutely agree. However I definitely believe that it’s valid in cases like these. I’m one of the affected, I’m white, and I’ve never seen racism on Fedi, and I take this as nothing but a group of people trying to help me see if I have any unintentional racist blind spots (which I’m pretty much guaranteed to have, as we all have them). It’s a good thing for everyone.
