  • That’s “graphical oowey”, right? /s

I generally just say the letters; the amount of shit I get for saying gee en you…is not actually that much because I usually don’t interact with coding nerds via voice, only text, but if I did they would be livid

Edit: For some reason I try to pronounce Xfce as a word instead of an initialism though, ‘ecks-fiss’. Maybe I’m just broken.

  • That happened with Windows 8 and Vista as well. There was a running joke that every other Windows release was garbage when I was growing up.

And the joke works with 8 and 10 both being shitty, because they skipped 9, which would have been the good one.

They really should have gone with Windows Nine, to bring the naming scheme in line with Xbox One while also avoiding the startswith.('Windows 9') issue

  • I specifically like Xfce or LxQt, because I generally run older hardware; I suppose my biggest question is how easily I could use either (not overly picky about which). I’m not sure which desktop environment LMDE defaults to, but both Gnome and KDE are deal-breakers for me, unless it’s easily changeable.

I don’t have that problem on my actual Debian machines, because they’re headless anyways, there is no desktop environment at all
