Garuda comes Nvidia ready out of the box

Aside from smaller titles I’ve e been using it for sea of thieves, monster hunter world, and ffxiv with good results even though that last one took a fair bit of fiddling with. Impressed with it.

Ill put my vote in for Garuda Linux. If you’re using Intel nvidia it is optimized out if the box. It is built on arch so youd manage it similar to Manjaro. kDE Plasma with Wayland is smooth. I cant get GNOME network displays to work to add my TV as a monitor but otherwise everything has been great.

I think what you and many others here are hovering around is the American Civil Religion. A blend of quasi religious dogma and beliefs sold to us at a young age to form a foundation for the shared delusion of American exceptionalism.

So from my experience, I replaced my 8+ year old omen laptop with an MSI 3 years ago then installed garuda on the omen. Tested some games on each and the performance was similar until graphics were set to ultra just dye to the hardware difference. Before installing linux that laptop performance was struggling, so it really breathed life back into it and made it viable again. Hell my wife uses it to play stardew valley now and I used it to play ffxiv a few times.

Well plenty of VMS in enterprise or corporate environments use Linux. Tenant appliances, User access gateways, DNS forwarders, web app servers in docker containers, maybe even some load balancers and siem appliances. For corporate Desktops however I’ve only really seen thin clients running Linux before sign in to windows VDI, and that gets phased out with Windows for IoT

Its wrong to use societal expectations to pressure your partner into taking on more than they are comfortable with. If you cant communicate your feelings, especially those around building a home together, the home will be dysfunctional.

Find something custom that both are you are happy with, try out new things, decide together what is fair. Not what your parents or grandparents or peer group think is fair… but the people building a home together.

Something doesn’t feel right? Ask for advice sure, use the advice to sort out for yourself why it doesn’t feel right. Communicate how you feel to your partner. Explain the burden and ask for support.

For my dog it is simply withdrawing all attention. Pretend she doesn’t exist until the behavior corrects. My dog was confused at first and tried harder so I get went about my day like she didnt exist. Finally she moped and laid on the floor so I pet her and said good girl and gave her some cuddles.

Now when she acts out or gets rough I just have to drop my shoulders and look ahead and she calms down pretty quick.
