I wasn’t (as) worried until Trump won. Now we’re going to have Trump sycophants running our federal government.

Here is a ‘great’ report on Canadian preferences for the States. It highlights fun facts like:

Q: An American Presidential Election will be held in November. Which candidate would you most like to see win?

Majorities of both men and women in Canada prefer Kamala Harris over Donald Trump. However, the preference for Harris is somewhat stronger among women (68%) than among men (51%). While only a minority of men prefer Trump, they are 12 percentage points more likely to do so than are women (27%, compared to 15%). Since 2020, Trump’s appeal has increased by seven percentage points among men (from 20% to 27%) and by five points among women (from 10% to 15%).

And then we get to this:

And if you were curious if it was just a Con thing, as usual no, it’s men again:

I’m extremely worried for my queer and female friends and loved ones. My queer child is already getting more and more aggressive threats from both people they know and don’t know. Two weeks ago it was threatening to attack them after school. Last week was a bottle thrown at them with a ‘vote Trump, fag!’ shout.

I won’t stand by that, so I’m going to dress and act as out as I ever have, so they come for me instead. Come at me, Cons, I’m not afraid.

I browse ‘all’ quite a bit, a few times a day, and I have had the same experience as you. I see more posts complaining about “.ml/tankies/etc” than I ever see problematic/whatever posts from them.

Like people who never learn proper English to put the other person first when listing them and yourself.

Was that intentional or am I just reading too far into it?

I’m not sure it’s literal, more of a “I feel this way, and I don’t want to assume others do, yet I have to ask has anyone else…?”

I think I would need some kind of example of what we’re counting as ‘intelligence.’

First, fuck you, hahahha, second, yes. Born in 1981, which AFAIK is the literal dividing year between Gen-X/Millennial.

99% sure it was a plastic box, but this would be like 400 years ago, so I can’t recall exactly, haha. I definitely don’t remember ours having the digital display. We actually went straight to computers the next year, which obviously was much nicer.

I’m a millennial and I learned touch typing on a typewriter in school, specifically for my resume.

Martha Wells Murderbot series is on book 8 (of the full length novels) and I love it more each time. I’ve read it through three times and still enjoy it each time.

I know it’s not 3 but if anything I find it more impressive.

First, I just wanted to say I am very proud of you. This is all tough to admit, and I really hope you share your story more. The fact you got yourself out is huge, and could really change things for others suffering from incel-dom.

Second, “You are not the things you like, the things you like are part of what makes you you. You change, your tastes change, you grow up, don’t think current you is too precious to change.” is a pretty great line.

When did the norm become leaving computers on? Is it me who’s out of touch? No, it’s the children who are wrong.
