Came here to say this. I’ve worked on systems for a restaurant on the beach and it was corroded as hell. We had the wireless access points in cheap “weatherproof” boxes and they got corroded. We replaced them once a year or so because it was so bad.

The tape was at the end. We all assume he feel asleep and passed away with it going.
He drank Crown. It’s not generally my thing but many bottles were had after the funeral around a bonfire to honor an absolute legend.
We all know how shitty and exploitative GGW is now, but at the time all we saw was an 80-something year old man living the dream.
My buddy’s grandfather died with a Girls Gone Wild VHS tape in the VCR and a western novel on his chest. This was when DVDs had already replaced VCRs so no one really wanted it. They ended up trashing that and a handful of other tapes.

I desensitized myself years ago by looking at the worst I could find. It was bad for my mental health so I stopped. Now I’m no longer desensitized and a lot of things affect me again.
I prefer it this way.
I started my Gentoo compile in 2008. It should be ready by next October.
That looks tasty as hell.
I browse all, but I’ve only blocked a couple of dozen. Every one is just a language I don’t understand or American football (I’m just not a fan). But I have a “disable NSFW” button on my client so I use that if I’m in public.
I don’t mind seeing things in my feed that aren’t my thing as long as they don’t take over.
If I’m alive I’ll have tacos more often than any other single dish throughout the year.
Bazzite is pretty good, as are Nobara and ChimeraOS. I’ve got HoloISO (SteamOS reimplementation) running and it’s pretty ok. It does what I need but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it due to the Bluetooth issues I’ve had and the on again/off again support.
Funny enough, instead of fixing the Bluetooth issues I just wrote a script a week or two ago that runs on startup. It removes btusb and btintel then reloads them. I hate janky fixes like that but I don’t have the time or energy to tinker with operating systems anymore.
I can’t speak for him but that would be too warm for most of winter where I am. Maybe in the two days it gets down to freezing or whenever it sleets it would be fine.
Except for the snowpocolypse or whatever the fuck we called it when our elected official ran like a bitch leaving the guy who lost and an out of state rep to help people who needed it.
I still have mine from the 90s. I haven’t worn it in more than 20 years, and it’s far too small for me (I’m regular sized, but in high school I was painfully thin). It’s got a bunch of punk band patches, both famous and local, most of which no longer exist.
It hangs out with my guitars.
I don’t downvote much. My upvotes vary depending on how drunk I am and what I’m drinking.
Save the cheerleader, save the world.
I really thought Allscripts was going to get their shit together a bit over a decade ago. We kept hearing from their reps that they were working on a much better UI.
It is still hot garbage.
Hell, poorer clinics use old versions of EMR/EHR software that they bought in '08 and host locally. Some of that shit barely supports Windows 7. Some of that software doesn’t support things like HL7 properly so getting the data out and into a newer one can be cost prohibitive in and of itself because you’ve got to pay someone to write a translator for a shitty database in a format that was purposefully confusing to keep vendor lock in for a vendor that went tits up a year later.
I mentioned before that I have a lot of certificates for a lot of those companies that no longer exist. If it wasn’t soul crushing I could probably make a decent living just moving people from those systems. But my soul is already a shriveled piece of garbage and I don’t want to purposely squeeze the last little bit of juice out just yet.
I have a good friend who loves scary movies of all types. He is an adrenaline junkie. He has lived through some terrifying shit that he shrugged off. But creepy writing has him turning on all the lights in his house and calling people to come over.
Something about it digs in his brain. He’s not even sure why but he said he’s just stopped reading anything remotely disturbing after 3pm.
Same. I used to do something similar to my job as a hobby but now I just don’t get on my actual computer outside of work unless I’m playing a game.
I tried building guitars for others but found that I don’t like doing things to other people’s specs. So I still build for myself. Plus video games, motorcycles, playing guitar, tabletop games, and one rotating flavor of the month hobby.
I think you and I would be friends.
No, the customers were several years behind the times. They didn’t want to buy flash drives even though Jaz was already discontinued a couple of years before I started working there.
Thank you for thinking this humble drunk could be an innovator though.
Halfway through there’s a drunk woman and her reluctant husband/boyfriend/male friend/drafted stranger who sings “Picture” by Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow.
