Important note, he had ear protection. Deeply seated ear plugs (as they should be) visible in photos looking from the side.

I would like to add that if you want to do any real customization of your setup don’t get mac either.
Instead of having your windows float around, they perfectly snap and fill the space of the monitor depending on how many windows you have open. A new DE in alpha right now called Cosmic has both floating windows and tiling, you can change with just a toggle.
Cosmic is great so far, I run it on Fedora.
GIMPs biggest upgrade in like a decade should be coming out this year, you’ll have to check it out and see if it meets your needs when it does.
Not open source apps, glad I’ve pivoted to almost entirely open source software. SaaS is cancer.
“incoming cosmic rays” I use cosmic DE btw
Probably a lot less than what’s in the ocean!
I had a co worker a few months ago say they needed to head home to their second job after work, curious I Inquired further and it turns out he has just been busting out ~40 hours a week of destiny 2 for a few months now while also working 40 hours a week at our job.
To be fair we work from home 2 days a week so I’m sure he had some cross over work/destiny time.
Right, I’m not a creative professional but the occasions I need tools adobe provides there are plenty of open source alternatives I use instead.
Sadly most people won’t care about what adobe is doing, but I can only hope they continue to shoot themselves in the foot. I yearn for the day when they aren’t the dominant player in the space, maybe in 15 years.
Blender does fucking everything lol, insane how much is packed into that amazing piece of FOSS
Blender is low key the best video editor on Linux for future reference
Best alternative for email?
I mean he’s tech illiterate when it comes to anything semi complicated but with the way he uses his pc and the software he uses it would just not be possible for him to switch at all, would be unable to do 70% of the stuff he wants to do.
Linux is only good for the truly tech illiterate/pretty noice users in my opinion. After that you hit a point where they are literate just enough that they would need to solve problems on linux they wouldn’t have to on windows and their inability to solve problems on Linux make their experience bad.
One level above that Linux is the better option again though.
But the same can be said with windows. My life long windows user friend occasionally (a few times a year) reaches out about some significant issues they are experiencing with windows on their modern desktop.
I truly wouldn’t recommend Linux for a fairly tech illiterate person like him, but really Linux is better in every category that matters to me.
Smart Nvidia users are ex Nvidia users
It’s actually easier to keep your graphics drivers updated on Linux vs windows, at least with AMD cards. All I have to do is type “sudo dnf upgrade” or if you’re lazy click the “update” button and my system and GPU drivers are up to date.
Also in regards to games, basically everything on steam works flawlessly and that will satisfy the majority of desktop gamers
I use Fedora (btw) and I always want to recommend Linux, although most people I interact with irl are too tech illiterate so I don’t actually ever end up recommending it. :'(
I rate A+ now, very good.
You make an excel to track your operating system of choice for the year but don’t include the distro?!? For shame.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ , I can do every normal thing I wanna do in a GUI on Fedora
