  • I’ve gone off the FOSS deep end so it doesn’t stop when I see Windows used in the wild.

The longer I’m here, the more I recoil at the sight of people using products from Google so casually and thoughtlessly.

I’ll feel visceral disgust when I see the soulless, dystopian corporate logos of Xitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc that wormed their way into a universal presence on social footers of websites or promotional emails or search engines… and everyone’s locked down devices, sucking up troves of data to map who you are, were, and will be. Even McFuckingDonalds has a clause in a policy saying they’ll measure your intelligence.

The greater the intersect between emotions felt while enjoying a cautionary fictional cyberpunk tale and those felt while experiencing reality… well, anyway you get the idea.

Tldr I need a hug from a penguin or cocaine from a bear or something holy shit

You, reader, go. Hug a penguin. Spread love to the world. Believe in the change you want to see. Be good to each other. And don’t let anyone or anything take who you are, were, or can be away from you, be it a corp, a government, or a bad day.

    Have a good day

  • I don’t care how big .world gets because it’s the same thing with mastodon.social or pixelfed.social. Coming from primarily centralized services, people will always be looking for a “main” instance because that’s what their brains are used to and that’s what will help adoption. The ones who care will use another instance. As long as fedi has the users and not the proprietary alternatives, it’s fine. We can manage.

  • I spent too much time with corpo brain rot to give linux a chance on desktop and realize it’s how I’d always imagined proper computing would be. It changed my outlook on the world when I finally did and it’s liberating (much libre. Very wow). Glad to see more and more people catching on to the possibility of a better future.

    • less centralization
    • obscure flash games
    • random people’s crappy colorful html sites
    • being able to find random people’s crappy html sites on search engines, despite not meeting the modern strict ranking criteria or being bloated with SEO
    • being able to read fun, and sometimes unique and interesting ideas on said crappy html sites
    • less DRM everywhere
    • less commercialization and people trying to sell you crap (not saying less ads specifically because pop-up ads were everywhere)
    • more people just sharing things for the sake of sharing even if it sucks
    • anonymity
    • just generally the more raw and people oriented feel and less of the corpo ridden EEE/data-sucking/cloud-for-everything/enshittification bullshit we have to deal with on a constant basis these years
