It’s the best game of the century, so far.

I don’t find hyperbole like this especially convincing.

Elden Ring. The game is just too obnoxiously hard. I don’t mind difficulty, I finished Doom Eternal and all its DLC on nightmare. But Elden Ring seemingly makes very little effort to teach me its mechanics, whereas Doom Eternal’s mechanics felt pretty intuitive after just a little bit of trial and error.

As far as FromSoft games go, I had a much better time with Sekrio. That game had a good tutorial, and that ghost dude who would help you practice the more difficult aspects of the combat.

God of War is pretty notorious for telling you how to solve the puzzles before giving you enough time to do it yourself. Your companion will just blurt out the answer within 30 seconds of you entering a puzzle area.

It was one of the more consistent complaints about the game, 2 especially.

I’m in the same boat, I find the combat both boring and frustrating, the worst possible combination. It’s absolutely loaded with RNG. People said this was the crpg for people who don’t like crpgs, but I can say that is not the case.

The thing that impresses me so much about Green Day is that they peaked, had the usual big falloff in quality a few albums later, then they peaked again about a decade after Dookie. I can’t think of any other band that managed to do this off the top of my head.

C# is regularly under-represented in OSS, in part because for most of it’s existence, the primary implementation (.NET Framework) was not open source or cross platform. It is also very popular in fields where open source is not the norm (game development, bespoke backend infrastructure, embedded apps).

I said it was easy to find C# developers, not that there were more of them on Github.

If the number of possible contributors on github is the big factor here then Python is the obvious choice at 18%.

I understand that being a problem for Rust, but not for many of the other “better than Java” languages on this list. Like, I dunno…C#?

If I’m being honest though, I just really hate Oracle, and that’s enough to give me pause over anything they dip their fingers in.

Or C#, it’s literally “Java, but good”.

The only time I would choose Java for a new project is if I had a hard dependency on something that only works with Java…

dedicated nas systems are pretty overpriced imo, often costing as much or more than the drives you put in them. much cheaper to build your own. depending on your needs, this can be as simple as a raspberry pi plus an external hard drive.

I have a YouTube Premium family plan. We use it so much that it’s easy for us to justify.

The Steam Link app is exceptional. the Apple TV natively supports Xbox and PlayStation controllers so it all works pretty seamlessly.

The Apple TV is quietly the best little streaming box. It is very capable, and according to my PiHole it’s far less chatty than my Roku or Android TV devices.

Also, I love Tailscale. I love how this press release reads like it was written by nerds for nerds rather than by writers for investors.

Nope, but even if I’d did, shuttling all that waste directly from my kitchen to my curbside bin would be a lot more work than just sending it down the disposal.

Except now you can’t buy a house or get a loan on a car because you have this massive outstanding debt…

I won’t defend Plex, but Jellyfin just isn’t quite there as an alternative yet. Their ATV app leaves still leaves a lot to be desired. I’m hoping it gets there sooner than later though so I can finally jump ship. The only other thing I really want is some tool to migrate the “watched” status of all my content to Jellyfin.
