I avoid politics everywhere. I’m happier now than I was when I didn’t avoid politics.
Not really but my life outside of work is, plus I get free health insurance and they pay me enough money to have a reasonably comfortable life.
I spent three days trying to get pulseaudio to work, 10 out of 10 can’t recommend enough
Ugh I switched to Arch full time 5 years ago and I had to walk to the servers uphill both ways in the snow. Kids today don’t know how good they have it.
2nd shift is great if you don’t have a family. You’re asleep when the kids go to school, you’re at work when they get home. Can’t have dinner as a family. I like 3rd, I go in after the kids go to bed and I wake up in time to pick them up.
If Green Tractor Factory ever starts hiring again you’re welcome to come here, we don’t rotate shifts, we make 90k a year, we get free health insurance. Because we’re UAW. But we’re also about to lay off so it might be a minute.
I’ve worked all three shifts. There’s guys been stuck on 2nd for 20 years, and 2nd shift is fucking WACK. From that perspective I kind of understand rotating shifts because everyone gets fucked the same. It’s more equitable. From every other perspective it’s shitty as fuck.
Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into the kingdom of heaven.

I’ve never heard that take before. Can you explain why you think there should be more apps instead of using the browser?
I think it’s cool that there’s only one comic everyone uses when referencing fragmented standards 😂
Ricky Martin’s “Livin’ La Vida Loca” which frankly is still a banger.
Every Linux question I’ve ever had have been answered by the Arch Wiki
I’ve had Pixels pretty much the whole time since the Pixel 2, I’ve dailied every generation except the OG and the 6a, coincidentally. I’m on the 7 now and really like it after thinking the 6 was hot trash. Out of curiosity, why is the 7 “intolerable”? What makes the 6a better?
So I’m not trying to judge or talk shit, but I am curious. Why would you choose to live that way? At least in my experience, being petty or spiteful always makes me feel worse. You might be happier if you let it go, especially since you by your own admission you wouldn’t be friends again anyway.
Modern cannabis seeds, because if I’m going to be in Ancient Times I still don’t want to smoke schwag.
I was on Ubuntu, then I switched to Debian, then Mint. Then I was like wow if this is so good I’m gonna try some more, and I dove headfirst. I didn’t run a distro more than a couple hours sometimes, never more than a week.
Then I found Manjaro, which I tried and liked well enough except for all the Manjaro shit. I decided then that I could install Arch, how hard could it be? So I did, it took me like 3 days and I broke it dozens of times but I eventually got there (with sound even!) shortly before they brought back the install script. I want to try Gentoo but I don’t have time to compile everything, I understand they ship binaries now which I think is sweet but I’m happy with Arch.
I like Arch for it’s KISS philosophy, the DIY attitude with which you approach it, the fine-grained control over every (most) part of the system, the AUR. But my favorite thing about Arch is the Wiki. It’s such a great resource, and yeah it applies to more than just Arch but like … why?
I use Arch btw
Bizzle is my legal name so I guess I’m chillin
I don’t put anything on my desktop but if I put Firefox in my krunner (alt-f2) box the flatpak shows up right away after installation
Grid size is the big one for me, it’s so nice
I’m trynna get a doom project together called LONG PIG
