Braces on adults are common enough that most people don’t care. There are options like Invisalign, ceramic or clear braces, and lingual braces (brackets behind the teeth) that you can ask about. If you work somewhere with a strict dress code you might want to stick to clear and white colored rubber bands, too. Though outside of that, people still won’t care and colored rubber bands are cute.

I don’t think reshipping in itself is illegal. If you’re buying something illegal in the final country, sure, but there’s a lot of stores that only ship to some countries even though there’s no restrictions on the actual goods.

If it’s a big company then keep your ear to the ground, find out if there’s another team or department you’d like to work in, and talk about it with your manager. Be patient. Big companies have a lot of benefits and it might be worth waiting for a position to open up.

If you really want to work somewhere else then apply outside of work hours, don’t just quit. It’s easier to find a job when you already have one.

I wondered about this but I figured recruiters would assume Google voice numbers were spam/sketchy applicants.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don’t think I could get him to take part in any kind of therapy but it sounds interesting for myself. Do you have any favorite resources?

My father’s a narcissist and my family waves it away. I’m fine with LC, he’s not, so I guess sooner or later it’ll turn into NC. It’s frustrating. He wants a relationship and says he’s willing to try, but he’s incapable of accepting any reality where he’s done something wrong or hurt someone. I’ve spent years trying to think of the magic words that would fix things but there’s no way around it.

As a person it’s made me more conscious of people’s limits. There’s a will on both sides for us, but we’re each limited in our own ways. I can’t be as tolerant as the rest of my family and he won’t be able to make progress without therapy that he doesn’t even realize he needs.

I’ve gotten some great solutions to work problems around bedtime. I make notes, set it to ping me in the morning, then can sleep easy.

Add some love to it. Put it on a plate, add a sprig of whatever, eat with a fancy fork, whatever it is that makes you happy. It’s a little gift of love to yourself. Soon after living on my own I realized I could eat whatever I wanted out of those big wine glasses. So… I did. Juice, yogurt, cereal, mac and cheese. I liked how it looked and it was a small thing that made my day brighter.

Express has great tall business slacks! I haven’t tried their tops though. Always trying to find places that sell tall clothes.

“Do you mind …” has been mis-answered for so long that yes means no. It’s hard to explain because written down, yes/no have different meanings, but when speaking to someone it depends on tone, context, and body language.

“Do you mind if I take that seat”

“No” “Yeah” depending on tone can both mean, “I’m fine with you taking that seat”. Most people will add on to make the intention clearer like, “Yeah, go ahead” but not always. Absolutely crazy.

The toll of core life events. Having a child, taking care of elderly grandparents/parents. I thought it would be easier. Not easy but “he’s not heavy; he’s my brother” kind of easier. Maybe it’s me, but it feels like I’m constantly running on empty. Caregiver burnout is a real beast.

Hard to tell without a good look at the abdomen, but I think this is a barn spider. The bite isn’t bad for humans. They are very creepy cute when resting, they fold their legs up and become a kind of diamond shape.

To add to this, you might be able to find a store that analyses gait. Usually it’s on treadmills or a machine you stand on.

My final advice is inserts. You might find your most comfortable boot is actually a boot + insert. Orthopedic stores can make custom inserts, too.
