I think giving an example of an extreme liberal would help answer the question. Did you have some public figure in mind? If not, what are some examples of their beliefs that you’re wanting to push them to the center on?

You can’t really generalize. It matters as much as the person you’re talking to or about thinks it matters.

If they don’t care; fine. But most people want to be properly gendered.

In most discussions here it’s not really relevant or important but it’s simple enough to use gender neutral pronouns when someone’s gender is unknown

Then there is QNAP. Apparently their system QTS is not as polished as DSM, but everything needed should still be there. There’s similarly priced, similarly equipped TS-462. It’s just dual-core CPU, but has more RAM (not upgradeable though) and it seems it can accept M.2 as storage at least. As per internet research, the build quality is just as good as Synology.

I have the QNAP TS-462. It’s my first and only NAS so I don’t have any points of comparison for you. Feel free to ask any questions you have and I can try and answer for you.

I do want to point out that the RAM is upgradable, but, unintuitively, only on the smaller 4GB RAM SKU; the 8GB RAM SKU has the memory soldered on.

I learned this the hard way and had to return the first one that arrived, but I currently have the memory maxed out at 16GB.

This obviously doesn’t include any maintenance, repairs, or improvements

EDIT: Just saw your second edit. Propane is still new to us; last winter we heated almost exclusively with the heat pump. This year we plan to try using the propane more and see how the cost differs. We pay $100/year to rent a tank and the propane truck comes by once a month and tops it off. Then we get a bill for however much they add.
