Same great Dharma, new SolarPunk packaging!

Still haven’t seen it, but I’m gonna have to eventually
Yeah, that’s a very good way of looking at it
It’s honestly one of my absolute favorites
The Man From Earth. It’s always felt out of place to me. I’m not sure if it’s too early or too late, but it doesn’t feel of it’s time to me.
Same vibe for The Discovery of Heaven.
Absolutely agree with you, but one thing to note is the existence of what’s called representative payees. OP would have likely had to sign a form for it at 21, unless they were verifiably incapacitated at the time, but a rep payee is, for an intents and purposes, the beneficiary as far as the social security department is concerned.
Which is NOT to say don’t leave. It just means that OP needs to contact social security the instant they are clear of danger or being overheard.
The moment you’re safe, contact the SSD and ask them to verify your status as the primary on your account. If your mother (or someone else) is not the rep payee, then you’re clear. If they are, you need to ask for the paperwork to transfer your benefits back to yourself, which may involve having to go through a judge. That said, keep a record of any communications between yourself and whoever the rep payee is. Ohio is a one party consent state, meaning you are legally allowed to record your phone calls as long as one party is aware and consents, namely yourself. Text based communication is easier, though.
If you are able to contact anyone (guessing you can since you’re posting this) I would suggest contacting progressive organizations in your area. Women’s shelters, even if you’re male, may be able to help you, or direct you to someone who can help. Gay organizations often have some resources in place for teens who have disowned. The DSA, the episcopal church, the metropolitan community Church, the United Church of Christ, any Sikh, Buddhist, and often Hindu community centers are also notorious for being home to progressive members. Sadly, they likely don’t have anything in place for such a rescue mission already, but they may well be a member willing to assist.
Best option is if there’s an anarchist mutual aid org near you, but that’s unlikely.
I wish you all the luck and success in there.
This also ended up longer than I anticipated going in, so posting it as a full comment in and of itself, too.

Firstly, that would be awesome, but imagine the spam.
Secondly, I’m a proponent of thorn, I get it. But ð was almost exclusively used medially and terminally in English. In addition it didn’t last nearly as long, and is much less recognizable as a letter in English. Þ was used initially, and is far more commonly seen in English. I get that you’re using them for voiced and unvoiced like in Icelandic, but that wasn’t so much the convention in English. I’m not against it, I’m asking to be sold on it. Lol. Sell me on why I need eth instead of just using thorn for both voiced and unvoiced, please? I’m willing to be converted.
And third, I’m having trouble finding it, was eth on it’s own ever used as a single letter spelling of the, or is that your own addition? I like it. When writing (by hand) notes or things only I’ll be reading, I use the þe shorthand that looks like an e cradled in the crook of a y, like was common in colonial America.
Yes!
Also, the static on the screen. I don’t mean snow, but the actual static that raised your arm hairs. Whenever my parents needed to leave a note for us, they’d just stick the paper to the TV screen and it would stay there because of the static.
Technology Connections has an excellent video on them. Though, that’s not saying much, all his videos are fucking gold
Okay, maybe my town is just not up to date, but these are still in use at all the banks and pharmacies where I live. Are they phased elsewhere?
To make sure I understand, you reached back and grabbed those levers while pedaling and riding the bike?
How many people lost fingers by sticking them into the spokes, I wonder?
We have a computer repair shop in my town that does not do computer repair. Ask them if they can fix something, the answer is always “we don’t do that.” Even simple shit like screen repair on cell phones, which they have signs on their windows saying they do. “We don’t do that.” My landlord owns the local radio station, he says they’ve tried to get them to do computer repair for them. “we don’t do that.” Factory I worked out tried them. “We don’t do that” Friend needed keyboard repaired on laptop. “We don’t do that” I’m so convinced at this point that whenever I meet a local business owner I ask them who they use for any computer repair, and it’s always the same answer as to why they don’t use this one place, that’s a big store, in the only strip mall in town. They only have one dude in the store, who’s constantly got some right wing radio or YouTuber on. There’s no other employees, no reasonable way they’re affording the outrageous rent for such prime real estate. There aren’t many businesses in this town, and almost all of them use someone from the bigger city 35 minutes away
On top of all of that, there used to be a Mexican grocery store in town (in the same parking lot, in fact) that never actually sold any food, and would always say they were closed if you walked in. They got shut down because they were apparently part of a group that was bringing in undocumented workers. The dude who owns the computer repair place is the cousin of the guy who owned the Mexican grocery store.
Mind if I DM?
I’m not the most familiar with the story, so many I’m remembering wrong. But I googled it to make sure before I posted that.

Hey, fellow Tennesseean anarchist. I lived in Erwin for a while, as well as Kingsport. Closer to Knoxville now. Are you still local?
Pre code movies are amazing. My mom watches a ton of them on YouTube, and I’ll watch a lot of the time, too. They’re genuinely hilarious to watch a lot of the time, because they showcase just how much hasn’t changed. You feel like, because of media, we practically invented a lot of stuff in the last generation or two, only to watch Mae west talk about mirrors on her ceiling or Marlene Dietrich dress in dress.
