Latest thing I noticed is at least with the home devices you can no longer get who/what band is playing.
It only tells you the song name. The band/artist is the primary reason I ask, not the song title.

Ya, all you have to do is install something different on every device you own/watch YouTube on.
You also, have to be technical enough to side load, or compile revanced etc… I’ve heard over and over that ubo keeps having updates/changes to keep yt ads down.
I actually am technical enough to do those things, but both doing and managing these various apps across multiple devices in my house is a lot of work. Or, I can just pay for the music and TV I watch.
For the record, I also have and paid for GrayJay app on my phone and do also use it on occasion. We have used smart tube TV in the past because when my son was younger Google had shit parental controls and we couldn’t allow his child account to access regular yt (restricted). I’ve got it side loaded on both our Nvidia shield and gtv devices. Too bad it doesn’t work on android TV, or my wife/sons iPhones.
Ya, my TV is actually ‘smart’ but I use the Nvidia shield through an AV receiver which feeds 5.1 speakers and the TV.
There are android apps (I could side load) on my Nvidia shield, but like I said I don’t mind paying for something I use , and use a lot.
I can tell you why I do. I watch more YT than anything else (on my TV), and don’t want to watch ads, or play cat and mouse games trying to prevent them. I also listen to a lot of music, and use YT Music. I pay for the family plan, since we all listen to music, and my son and I watch a lot of YT (very different videos on YT however :) )
I get, there’s a growing group of people that think everything should be free, but I’m OK paying for something I use a lot, to remove ads. There should, however be more controls for paid users, like controlling whether or not you see creator ads, shorts, etc…
This was me :) live at about 900’ flew in for work, picked up my rental Jeep and drove up to pikes peak
Didn’t get sick but could walk like 5 steps at a time before needing to catch my breath. Hung out for a bit came down and went up to Longmont. Had a nice headache for a couple days.
Second trip out I skipped pikes, but also acclimated way faster. No headache, and got in some great hiking.
Smells like another test that’ll end in a year or so leaving the Tablet to rot.
I still have one actively used Nexus 7 in my house. Used as a weather station display on our countertop.
Probably wouldn’t buy another Google tablet until it was well established a generation or two in. Certainly know better than to early adopt anything they put out.
I still think premium should allow you to block sponsors. YT should make them be sections that are removable.
I use/like “Radar Scope” it is a radar, not forecasting app.
I removed my account a few years ago when they moved a bunch of features behind their paywall. I’m perfectly fine just using Garmin’s built in ‘news feed’ and tracking without giving my data to another company.
Hope it stays that way.
There’s all kinds of people being born every day, growing up and becoming self hosting unRAID users. Meanwhile current license holders are growing older and dying off.
How is continuing to charge for new people to get into unRAID unsustainable? If it’s worked this long but isn’t now then increase the prices, or watch your overhead.
I’m here until my pro license starts costing me again. If that happens, I’ll likely jump just like I have done with other products I paid for that changed our original agreement.
Garmin makes good watches, and the data capturing goes to Garmin connect without any subscription fee / pay wall to see all the data it tracks.
I’ve had a bunch of them (as a runner). I currently have a Fenix 6X partially because I was doing long runs and wanted the battery to last without worrying. I recently tried a pixel watch 2 for a few weeks and did really like the extra “smarts” but the battery life sucked.
I wear a Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Solar, which is a large watch with pretty incredible battery life. I can run outside (aka GPS) 5x a week and it still lasts 10 days between charges.
I got the Pixel watch 2 as part of the Pixel 8 pro deal, tried selling it unopened for a while but after Christmas I opened it to try it out. I really loved all the smart features above and beyond my Garmin. My Fenix gets notifications and can do simple (preconfigured) replies to msgs, but that’s it. So the Pixel watch’s “smarts” were cool. but the rest is bleh…

Pretty interesting article, thanks for sharing
I was sitting on a picnic table at my kids soccer fields and a little jumping spider was crawling around on the table. It actually came over to me so I put my finger out and it didn’t shy away but like touched me and then just hung out around.
I actually wanted to take it home.
And ya I’m over 50yo haha, so I left it alone as the adult thing to do.
I stopped using it years ago, however during ironically a month or so ago, going through my password manager, visiting sites I no longer use, to clean up my accounts evernote got chopped.
I’m sure most will scow at me, but I use google’s keep for personal stuff, and ms one note for work these days.
I wear a Garmin fitness/ multi sport watch. It has some smart features (shows notifications) but is not touch screen. I run/work out and use the watch to track that.
I over a week on battery wearing it t 24/7 and running around 20 miles a week.
