I personally would only use the original phrase to imply what you’re saying. This is why context matters so much I think; some people just use it as a thought terminating cliche, I’m afraid.

First one is saying there’s no point fixing anything, just get over it. Second one saying fixing it might suck, let’s fix it anyway.
Very, very different…
A baby is a baby until they’re a toddler. An infant is a brand new baby.
Yeah, it’s a shitty answer, when there are multiple free options that eliminate the problem.
Oh, for heavens sake. I chose to be born into a life where I can only choose the form of my exploitation, in other words?
No. It is not in any way shape or form a result of my choice that some business owner is prioritizing money over people.
Capitalism is not a neutral system. And it’s flaws are certainly not the fault of those being exploited.
An “economic perspective” is horribly skewed in favor of the capitalist class; that’s just saying the misery of the commoner is justified by the greed of those who refuse to actually assist in producing any goods or value for society.
No. The lack of buttons annoys the hell out of me. Lose your remote? Oops, no TV for you. And frankly, I despise any product that emphasizes something completely superficial like looks over functionality. I pity the empty, vapid existence of people who actually get excited about such ridiculous design issues.
Nah, Slackware is just as old as Debian, and apparently SUSE branched off from Slackware. And it’s still around, although I don’t use it anymore…
Thank you for this. I also use Connect, so went ahead and manually added that to my block list.
When I turned forty, I decided Jesus fasting for forty days and nights was just an allegory for how you don’t really find out who you really are until you’re over the hill! ;-)
I personally start with the idea that I’m part of something much, much bigger than myself; that’s the basis of my concept of a “higher power”. Like the Ancient One told Doctor Strange, “It’s not about you.”
I was raised Mormon, and after breaking free I have a strong distaste for organized religion. You know how people like to say that if they had a time machine, they’d go back and kill Hitler? I would take out Abraham. The Abrahamic Covenant made religion all about one man’s ego; the cult he formed has splintered and spread over so much of our planet.
Gathering with like minded folk to exchange ideas about life, the universe, everything was once an organic, grass roots sorta thing (or so it seems). Religion is manufactured as a system of control.
Celebrate making your journey your own! I hope you find people who have the courage to make their own path as well; it is a huge comfort to at least just speak freely with like minded folk.
Really? “Yeah, boycott that jerk!! But not the silly rockets, I like em!”
Uh, no. Just, no.
It’s not quite that simple. If it’s a piece of hardware that’s not intended for public use, then there certainly are not gonna be any drivers provided. There will be drivers hidden in their proprietary software, but installing your own os won’t include those. And if nobody knows they are there, who’s going to hack the hardware and write a driver?
Legend of the Seeker
How does the fact that point of observation affects the outcome of the experiment fit into this? If there is no consciousness, why does it matter where you observe, as in the case of varying outcomes of the double slit experiment?
