  • Me too, I had money. Then, Trump imposed tariffs on China which made my stock take a dive, and the company I used to work for suffered, meaning fewer raises or bonuses. Not saying tariffs were 100% a bad idea, China was, and is still, stealing our tech (observed first hand while at that job), but that didn’t help with the economy.

Then we had covid, which didn’t help, and Trump definitely mismanaged that. Biden then took over and … also mismanaged, but the opposite way, causing inflation. Thankfully, they brought it back under control, where we are now.

Now I have a new job and more money is flowing. And honestly, most of this is neither president’s fault or merit, really, they just like to point fingers and take credits for stuff they didn’t do.

Never upgrade to the latest and greatest of … anything really, especially in production. Let others test it first, or as suggested already, have a staging environment where you test the upgrade first. I guess you can still downgrade nextcloud though, especially if you have a backup.

Are you using the AIO image? I don’t know how well that works, but yeah, I absolutely hate automatic updates like that. I tried it once and I decided to use the plain “official but not supported” docker image instead, where I manage things myself. Never had an issue, and I can control which version I’m running, I can backup to wherever I want, using whichever system I want, etc.

  • I have used Manjaro at work and on personal devices for maybe 10 years and it has served me well. When I got a new computer this year, I saw many recommending EndeavourOS instead, so I decided to use that instead. I don’t understand the controversy to be honest … endeavour is a-ok, but Manjaro was more stable imho, and if I have to do it again I might go back to Manjaro.

  • My point is, since its meaning depends on the context, I don’t see the issue for it to mean, in the context of containers, “outside of a container”. Just like in the case of VMs, or OS vs No OS, it means there’s one fewer layer between the app and the hardware, whether that’s a VM, Container runtime, or the OS.

I’m pretty sure everybody, including you, understood its meaning in this context, it didn’t really cause any misunderstanding.

  • Fun fact: as I discovered, “continents” are defined differently depending on which country you’re in, they are not the same worldwide. In Europe, America is a big continent and includes both north and south, and the continent including Australia is called “Oceania”. In “America” (USA), there’s North and South America as separate continents, and the continent including Australia is called … Australia… and yes, the USA is just America, because, yeah.

  • Now that I think about it, there is a problem: fingerprint & face ID are not 100% correct all the time, so they’d rather have false negatives than false positives, i.e. they’d rather deny access to someone who is authorized, rather than grant access to someone who is not. This is normally not a problem, cause if for whatever reason the biometric method doesn’t work (e.g. wet fingers, wearing gloves, wearing full face mask, etc) then you always have the PIN/passphrase … but with your 2FA idea this wouldn’t work anymore.
