I would read layman discussions about why this (by context?) is good.

Every person who isn’t a little bitch that rolls over is hope.
That’s the funniest shit I’ve heard in awhile and I will use it as my Lemmy jumping off point for the day.
Remember to look at a few things that leave you feeling at least kind of ok, Lemmy.
What brand? I can see all the letters but none of them mean anything to me.
Regardless, congrats! Good call.
The basic problem is thinking that conquering somebody is natural, inevitable, or good.
I’ll take it just one miniscule, slight iota further and say they should all go fuck themselves.
But that’s just what I think.
…so, never put things in the terminal?
I wouldn’t.
I’d approach it from a personal level, as in, “you’re disgusting for doing this, you’re disgusting for pretending any of this bullshit is defensible. This is beyond the pale. I’ll talk to you again if you stop it with the crap, not before. I’m ashamed to come from people who would do this.”
I don’t know if it’s a good idea to try and talk actual policy points with them. You think they reasoned their way there? This isn’t politics, it’s assholish indecency. Treat it like the thing it is.
Debating people who’s entire thing is “don’t be serious but make the others be” is dumb. Clown on em, tell them you can visit when they stop being transparently awful. Make it their job to patch things up, and don’t use kid gloves. Don’t allow the idea that they have a point into the conversation. That only applies to people who have points. Nazi shit gets you put in time out instead.
Don’t take up the mantle of always having to put out the fire they keep lighting in the bridge between you. They’ll burn it down and try to blame you for it, mark my words.

Well, reddit has nothing at this point, so it’s better than the competition.
Yes.
Also: crack addicts.
I think the way to beat amazon is to specialize in one tiny area. Carve them up into such small slices that they cant fight back.
So like, instead of trying to do just their books business, do just horror books. Horror that mixes with all genres, every possible crossover, but always horror books.
Having a genuine specialty is what can take amazon down, bit by bit. Something genuinely cool, something genuinely fun. Another big-ass store is nothing special.
This is what we call “dipshit energy”.
The fediverse is confusing and that’s bad. It should be less confusing, and there should be less people making comments like that one. Quit it.
We’ll get there sooner or later. Hopefully sooner.
So get them on there.
“Hey dummies, this here is the place that isn’t trying to fuck us, let’s move it over.”
For me the way bigger issue is clunkiness. The fediverse needs a massive push for UI, usability, intuitiveness. Not having that will turn people away, but part of what will get it to happen is more people showing up and saying “stop making this otherwise objective improvement so janky that I second guess coming here in the first place.” Maybe a few will be inspired to help, if they have the skills.
To everybody working on the fediverse in any capacity: thank you. You are building a digital Noah’s Ark for the future.
Stuff like this is a major, major component of dealing with nazis.
And even after they’re dealt with, it’s a better way of doing things, anyway. If it’s a company, you’re not on their social media platform, as much as you can possibly manage.
Which is a lot.
Occasional comments here and there are probably better.
Everything helps.
No corporations in social media. No venture capital in social media.
I bet the fediverse wouldn’t censor a post about reddit because the fediverse isn’t a bitch.
Well, for starters, he carried out the single worst attack on American itself in its history: Jan 6th, 2021. Pearl Harbor and 9/11 didn’t attack America’s beating heart. Jan 6th did.
At least hundreds of thousands of people died from covid, who would have lived otherwise, specifically because of his non-response to covid, and his whiny toddler hissy fit decision to destroy the pandemic response team, just because Obama created it.
The fact is, you don’t need more reasons. There are tons and tons more, but it might be better to leave it at these two to give the crimes their proper emphasis. The first, only an enemy of America would do. The second, only an enemy of the species would do.
+1 for Linux Mint, switched from windows 10 recently.
Terminal is annoying but not needed as much as I feared, and usually it’s copy + paste anyway (ctrl + shift + v to paste in terminal). A lot of stuff is easier on Linux, like updating, and (sometimes) installing things. Also, it’s a feeling that your computer will stay the same or get better, not get worse.
Also:
In Steam, you use Proton when your install button is grey, by tapping the gear icon on the right, selecting Properties, Compatibility, checking the box that says “force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool”, and choosing the first thing from the drop-down menu. So far everything I’ve done this with has worked immediately after.
