Early pandemic, I bought 4x 3D printers and started a print farm to make PPE masks for doctors. I was cranking out around 60-80 pieces a day.
After the shortage was over, I ended up donating it to my buy nothing group.
Kids should never experience this stuff.
Doctors hate him for this one simple trick!
He’s probably having flashbacks from nam.
I lived on Long Island and was in 3rd or 4th grade. I was invited to a friend’s house to play and right before I entered the door, the dad stuck his leg out and blocked me from coming in.
He bent down and looked squared in the eye and asked “Where you from, kid?”
Ummm… “Taiwan, sir”
He quickly smiled and said “alright, I did some RNR there. You good people”.
I later found out that he doesn’t let anyone from Vietnam in the house.
I’ll give it a try! Thanks!
I actually value my life.
I also did the same thing. I’m back to Mint OS but at the end I’m not much happier.
In my case, along with using my laptop as a regular PC, I also use this as my work computer. I contract for multiple companies and each window has tabs for each web software for every company, organized by consolidated tabs. So Google analytics, Crazyegg, tableau, and docs, calendar, etc. I also do web testing and each tab has tests.
I find that Edge does a better job at memory management so it’s now my primary and I test on Chrome.
I installed 64gb of ram on my gaming laptop and Chrome took all of it.
I do UX for mobile apps and websites. I can’t use that excuse.
I have worked for both a fortune 100 and startups. Both don’t provide it. They do, however, paid for my monthly cellphone bill.
My bank apps won’t run on a rooted phone. Neither will 2FA authenticator apps that most employers require that you have.
Taiwan: Come visit us!! The majority of the foods on my list youq can get at most night markets.
Beef Noodle Soup - You’ve gotta try the beef noodle soup; it’s practically the national dish! Imagine slurping down spicy broth with tender braised beef and hearty noodles. Total comfort food.
Bubble Tea - No trip to Taiwan is complete without bubble tea. It’s the perfect combo of tea, milk, and those addictive tapioca pearls. Totally worth the hype!
Gua Bao - Think of Gua Bao as the Taiwanese burger. It’s a fluffy steamed bun stuffed with juicy pork belly, sprinkled with peanuts and cilantro. So good.
Stinky Tofu - It might smell funky, but stinky tofu is a must-try street food. Dare yourself to try it fried up crispy with some pickled cabbage on the side.
Lu Rou Fan - This is a go-to comfort dish: simple braised pork over rice. It’s unassuming but unbelievably tasty.
Oyster Omelette - This is a unique mix of eggs and oysters with a sweet potato starch that gives it a chewy texture, topped with a sweet and spicy sauce.
Pineapple Cake - For a sweet treat, grab a pineapple cake. It’s a crumbly, buttery pastry with pineapple jam inside—a perfect souvenir too.
Dumplings - You can’t go wrong with dumplings, steamed or fried. Dip them in soy sauce and chili and you’re set.
Shaved Ice - To cool down, shaved ice is perfect, especially piled high with toppings like red beans and fruit.
Mango Shaved Ice - Upgrade to mango shaved ice if you’re there in mango season. Fresh mango with shaved ice and condensed milk? Yes, please!
We are super friendly too and the majority of the population speaks English.
I just found out that PopOS is getting abandoned. So I’ll just wait for Rust?
I get that. I think my line of work doesn’t require much. I just want the basics like slack and zoom. I just need the basics working “Back Gestures and a non freezing computer”
I do care about privacy. This was the primary reason to try Linux again.
I just didn’t realize how much work for a newcomer would need to do to get basic functionality working.
PopOS is fun. Mint is pretty good too.
