Very, very true. I have met many so-called “Christians” who are only interested in moral authority/power. They usually drive cars with a fish on them, or a bumper sticker with some cliche about god.

I worked with ONE person who was probably the most faithful Christian I’ve ever met. He didn’t talk about religion. He didn’t wear a cross (or if he did, it was on a chain beneath his shirt and tie). He never judged people. He was genuinely pleasant to everyone.

I think there’s a significant overlap in Christianity and Republican thinking because many people are okay with hypocrisy and disdain critical thinking.

Not a mustard fan, tries mustard soup anyway, discovers something wonderful. This may be a trivial example, but it’s the key to living life!

Experience. Learning when it’s okay not to give a fuck, and when I definitely should.

Absolutely. If other people want to judge me for it, then their opinion doesn’t matter to me anyway.

I like JustWatch because it lets you search all your streaming services at once. If you set up a (free) account, you can limit it to just the streaming services you have personally. Handy as hell.

I don’t think I’m any smarter than average. Lemmy as a whole may seem that way, though, and two reasons come to mind immediately:

One, many of us have spent some time on reddit. We’ve grown up since then, and most of us have said “no more of that reddit crap, please and thank you.”

Two, people seem to have the patience to read longer comments, and think about them. I see more genuinely thoughtful comments here than pedantic ones where the subtext is “look how smart I am.”

This might have been interesting a few months ago, when they were getting the kind of free publicity that CEOs would kill for. Now that the momentum is gone, though, nobody cares. They took WAY too long to get their shit together.

Being pleasant and helpful to customers at work. What I do is by no means important, but I take pride in doing it well (or at least trying to). Too many people in customer service are bored, apathetic, or act like you’re bothering them by asking them to do their jobs. I like to make people smile.

I almost hope he tries. I don’t think the Republican Party would even be deranged enough to endorse him. If he ran, it would be pure ego, and he’d run as an independent.

It would be sad, pathetic, and amusing all at the same time. After everything he’s done, he deserves that kind of humiliation.

That’s better than nothing! At least I know my computer isn’t frozen.

Accurate progress bars and “remaining time” displays (yes, I know that this isn’t technically possible, but we’re wishing here).

I don’t want to see my computer/phone grind away for a few minutes yet still be at “0%”, then jump to “76%”, chug away some more, then abruptly finish a task. When something is going to take time, I wanna know if we’re talking “stare at the screen for a minute” kind of time or “find something else to do for a while” kind of time.
