Not when you charge monthly subscription fees, your app no longer fully supports the platform, and you haven’t pushed a single change in 12 months.
It’s acceptable to have 2 of the above issues, but not all 3 at once.

Yeah its a great read that people enjoyed a lot.
One of the best parts is where she explains that bluesky cant scale down. You can run an activitypub server on a literal potato by design, but bluesky can’t ever be decoupled from it’s “eye of god” central architecture. The best case scenario for atproto federation is wikipedia or the Internet archive hosting a competing federated instance, but neither have stepped into that “millions/month” role.
I think the head technical lead at bluesky responded in a very respectful and technical way and did cop to some limitatoons why highlighting blueskys strengths. That reply is here.
They tend to lag behind on purpose for stability reasons, but a year out of date is pushing it.
Part of the issue they have is that one of the most popular apps for lemmy, Sync, has been abandoned by its dev. They said they have roughly 5k/month sync users, and if they update, their experience will break further. The egregious part is that app has subscription options, and it’s still been 10+ months since the last update.
I left Sync for summit a couple of months ago due to the above, and boy howdy is it better. Actual FOSS, huge amount of options, very similar ux and flow as sync. It’s a champion.
Here’s hoping more people trickle off of sync to a better app and lemmy world can drop that from their issues list.
You should haggle a bit mate. I think a few things are on the table here.
No problem mate. The thread is a mess, but if you read the comments below the top pinned one, you’ll see most of the salient points that pissed people off. The “color” i mentioned above came from all over that thread, with some of it deleted. I know he edited/deleted the “triggered” comment when he was called out, but he never expanded on why he claimed the GOP was the “party of the little guy” and why all the “corporate dems needed to be thrown out” to get anything done. He also opted not to respond at all to people asking why he thought the party of tech billionaires was suddenly going to crack down on tech billionaires besides saying he really liked J.D Vance, a tech millionaire whose political run was funded by, get this, tech billionaire Peter theil.
Dude fawned very publicly over tech billionaire maga, who will do clearly do nothing for privacy and monopoly busting, while pretending that the real issue is chuck shumers and establishment dems.
The bias is clear and prominent.
Here is a general write up about the CEO showing their maga colors.
More happened in the reddit thread though that added some more elements, like the ceo opting for a new user name with “88” in it (a common right wing reference), his unprompted use of the phrase “didnt mean to trigger you,” him evasively refusing to clarify what his stance actually was because “that would be more politics,” on and on. You can read through that thread here, although proton corporate are mods, so i have no idea what they may have deleted at this point.
The thread was full of “mask on” behavior that is pretty transparent to anyone experienced with the alt right on the internet.
Cool. That gives people context about what this FOSS app does for them.
Thanks for adding that info.
Its no longer actively supported. It likely still works, but redhat is moving away from it in favor of quadlets.
Quadlets use systemd files to manage containers, which is excellent, its just a departure from compose.
This changes a bit when you start using podman quadlets instead of docker compose, but most compose commands have an analog in the quadlet syntax.
Ive yet to run into any compose files that I couldn’t translate, but some functions took a bit. The quadlet docs from redhat really help there.
What’s Nextbike?
Looks like it’s some like of bike rental Software based on the git repo? Where is Nextbike in use?
Open Bike is an Android client to interact with NextBike rentals.
Not getting this experience on Mastodon. I hopped on after Lemmy, but so far I’ve had several positive back and forths with people.
I had the hardest time with this. What I ended up doing instead was provisioning a dedicated vm to run as a tailscale subnet router, then just advertise my gateway and the applicable container IPs via /32 CIDRs. Tailscale will let you do multiple comma separated IPs when advertising routes, so it’s easy to append a new service via IP.
If youre using podman quadlets, this config in the systemd service file does the same:
[Service]
Restart=always
Some people fight because they are stunned and confused, as cops will often attack with overwhelming force without identifying themselves. Others fight because some people do get away.
In the grimmiest case, people fight because they know that they are about to get “death by cop” because some power tripping or racist asshole knows they can kill them and just get away with it.
I mean fuck, 13 prison guards just beat a man to death in a New york state prison hospital while he was handcuffed, and the only reason anything is being done is that 4 considered the murder so mundane they didn’t even take off their body cameras. They dragged him in handcuffed and dazed, already clearly beaten, then proceeded to punch his face, kick is groin, stuff a rag into his mouth as he screamed, lift his body up by his neck, breaking his spine, and then pushed him up against a wall to die. They then stripped him, took of the handcuffs and put him on the gurney and pretended they didn’t know why he was near dead. The NY AG release the footage of it. You can watch a dozen men murder him in cold blood. The worst part? It is clearly completely normal for them to do this shit. They just finally killed someone.
I can name a dozen more cases like the above off hand, in the wider world or in our prisons, done by cops or prison guards.
When faced with the above when you comply, why not try to fight your way out? If every stop is a possible death sentence, why not try to survive by killing them first?
No one gets put on a watchlist for talking about drugs with their pals in a bar.
The fear that some “other” will somehow overhear, have the power to add you to this list, actually do so, and that even such a “talked about drugs” watchlist exists that can upset your life, is the irrational and paranoid bit.
Irrational paranoid urges might be signs of mental health issues. Does your family have any history of paranoid schizophrenia? Onset tends to happen to men in their late 20s/early 30s, but everyone is different.
On time, even when presenting. Starting early makes other people feel obligated to join early, so I don’t do it. No reason to extend the meeting longer than the listed time.
Id be pretty wary of using any system that “cooked” an nvme. That not the sign of an actual healthy system.
Was the failure just heat damage?
Worth checking out the official support forum for any kind of issue.
Based on the total lack of description, I thought this was an emulator for the music instrument at first.
That would have been something to see.
