    • Ability to see and export the posts and comments I upvoted and downvoted
    • Polls with configurable restrictions (ex: only allow subscribed members of the community to vote from the date the poll was published, single-choice or multiple choices, restricted to local instance)
    • Tags for posts and users inside a community
    • Have a table for rules, and have those rules show up when creating a report
    • A lemmy:// (or fediverse://) protocol, to make linking content, users, communities, etc more universal across instances, apps, etc

  • Clothing

    • Make sure to have a good winter coat, neck gaiter, hat, gloves and boots. Staying warm and dry is important.
    • Hand warmers can be handy if you expect to be outside for a while. There are several variants (chemical, reusable, rechargeable)

    Driving

    • Winter tires. It may seems like an extra expense, but it will make your summer/all-season tires lasts longer. In some provinces, they are mandatory for residents (ex: Quebec)
    • Make sure to clear the snow from the car, INCLUDING the roof (aka don’t leave a snowhawk). Keep that snow brush in the trunk.
    • Make sure to keep your windshield washer fuild filled.
    • Have a small snow shovel just in case you get stuck in snow.
    • Keep one of those metallic safety blanket, and those emergency candle in case you get in an emergency.
    • A car battery booster might come in handy. A drained battery isn’t fun.
    • Drice defensively, it’s easier to lose control of the vehicle.

    Homeowner

    • A good shovel to clear out the driveway isn’t a luxury
    • Some sand in a bucket with a lid, to put over ice patches when it gets slippery. You don’t need to put a lot, just enough to not fall.
    • Be sure to keep the temperature above 18°C. If the temp inside the building drops too low, ice can form in water pipes, and you can imagine the mess it can make when a pipe bursts.

Hopefully Syncthing-Fork will still be maintained somewhat, and remains available through F-Droid…

Google holds way too much power and takes too many arbitrary decisions… including the absurdity of asking for a absurdly expensive and time-consuming security audit for Google Drive access, which as far as I’m aware is not a thing for other cloud storage services like Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.

  • For the docking station I got a WD19TB from Dell provided by my employer, and for the KVM I managed to find this one that does 3xDP v1.4 to ensure it supports VRR (I’m only using two monitors, but it’s nice to have the extra capacity), has three USB ports (to plug the mouse, keyboard and webcam) and has an audio out + mic in so that my headset follows the computer I’m using.

I made sure to use good DP cables to make sure the capabilities of the KVM and my hardware are always met, and so far it’s been quite smooth.
