Check out TrackerControl on the F-Droid app store. It lets you block Internet access to individual apps and selectively block trackers and other analytics. It does this by acting as a VPN in the android OS so it won’t work while on another VPN but that’s good enough for my needs.
Stupid question: What exactly are the dangers being implied here? I have accounts with all of these services although I don’t use all of them. I know that they are using and selling my personal information, is there more? I have ways of doing things in private when I need and I’m aware that using these services has no expectations of absolute privacy.
Yes, there is an app called Button Mapper that allows you to map any button to any app, even special functions and utilities. It also allows for special behavior when double clicking or long pressing.
I use a Chromecast with Google TV everyday and I do not receive autoplay ads on the home screen. You are free to disable ads on the home screen in the settings and you are free to install third party home screens.
In fact, the only interaction with the home screen that is required is when I see it briefly before pressing the Netflix button on the remote which I have remapped to Plex or jellyfin using the button mapper app.
Even with the default home screen you do not see auto play ads unless you select them and continue watching.
And the emoji button in the message area has less features than the one found in the Google keyboard (no emoji kitchen?!), so I’ll never want to use it anyways.
The stick she tells you not to worry about.

I believe some subreddits had auto-mod set to notify you about issues with your posts or comments including deletion / ban.
I agree, after owning Garmin watches I wouldn’t want an apple watch.
Yup, I considered the pixel watch for my android phone but Garmin has an advantage over it in every category while having no subscription. I would have considered an apple watch if it were compatible with android.
I think the pixel watch is doomed to fail unless they can separate from the Fitbit model and continue to improve the hardware and software.
There’s a website / app called Meetup and there are local groups in almost every city for strangers to meet up for social events to get to meet new people and make friends.
I used it for a few months after moving to a new city and stopped once I made some personal connections and a friend group.
My girlfriend and I both got Garmin watches and we absolutely love them. I got the Forerunner 265 and she got the venue 2sq. I like that they support both android and Apple, and don’t have subscriptions!
If you tap the compass icon, it will change the view in Google maps from top down to prospective view.
I have the update and it makes sense to me. I don’t want to accidentally click install while scrolling through search results. The arrow functions as a drop down preview of the app for easy comparison. The install button is still there on the main app screen.
Thanks I’m going to give this a try.
