This depends on what you want. Sourcehut reminds me of old CVS UIs and it is heavily influenced by its author’s needs, which are not exactly mainstream. I’d recommend Forgejo if you want something that looks and feels more like Github.

I don’t hate AI-created images. I hate the insane amounts of energy required for current AI models. I hate that it’s the same rich assholes who control everything also controlling AI. I hate that they monopolize access to models trained on all our work. And I hate that it will be these rich assholes benefiting from humans being put out of work by AI. Because this will happen on some scale.

If it were free, I’d love AI. Because it allows people who aren’t artists to create stuff. And lowering the barrier of entry on art is always good, in my opinion.

I run qBittorrent on a server (with a VPN as the only outside connection) and use an open source app to control it from my mobile devices. It can catch magnet: links and torrent files and send them to qBittorrent via its API.

Just to clarify, you can attach one listener per IP and port tuple. This means you can have separate processes listening on, for example, 127.0.0.1:80 and 192.168.0.1:80.

It’ll be fine, although I fully understand why you’re nervous. As others said you will definitely walk or bike a lot more. Most people speak English to some degree and are open to help you. There’s the old joke that in the US 100 years is a long time and in Europe 100km is a long distance. It’s kind of true. If your parents live over 100km away in Germany you will never see them again because it’s just too far. If you’re moving to the area “around Hamburg” you might not visit Hamburg proper that much. And Hamburg is the only city in the north. The next cities are Bremen, Hanover and Berlin, which are all to the West, South and East respectively. All of them are very far away from Hamburg, so you will never visit them. To the north of Hamburg there is nothing but tiny villages until you hit the Danish border.
