This is ultimately what made me try out Betterbird. It has regex searching which imo every search box of every app should have as a basic feature. Plus it still has all the features Thunderbird has and even some that Thunderbird has removed in recent releases.

Np, I’d be interested to hear about other people’s experiences with it, good or bad.

It’s Thunderbird but with bugfixes and additional features. Bugfixes I like are being able to sort by attachment and minimize to my tray. Features I like are regex searching/filtering (including encrypted messages), opening to the same folder every time, being able to change message headers, being able to directly open links in messages I’m writing, maybe a few more I’m forgetting. Regex searching is the top used additional feature for me.

Since BB isn’t a hard fork of TB, it stays up to date with bugfixes and features that new TB versions include, and they often restore existing features that new TB releases break or remove (at least 4 in the last major release v115), and are open about breaking features in new versions (like IMAP folder corruption in both TB and BB v128.0 that they say they hope will be fixed in v128.3.0).

I’ve been using Betterbird for a good 6 months and it’s the best email client I’ve used, it’s what Thunderbird should be out of the box. With the Proton bridge app running in the background it integrates very well.

Also, I’m told it’s going to really fail at some point, but so far, pacman -Syu has worked like a charm.

Starting with United States data makes sense as the incarceration rate is so high there. I’ll leave the state and international prison searches up to you to follow up on if you decide it’s an interesting enough subject. Pew did a summarized study where they lump atheism in with scientology, Satanism, druidism, etc., but it’s still a good read.

You might find that there are also correlations between demographics of the incarcerated, uneducated and undereducated, low income, and religious. One certainly isn’t necessarily a cause of any other, but it is interesting to find a consistent correlation among all of them.

I got confused about this too, when I found out that traditionally meat has referred to warm-blooded animals. But that’s not universal across cultures, “warm-blooded” has been an obsolete term for quite some time in biology, and thermoregulation is kind of a silly condition for something being considered vegetarian or not. A fish is clearly not a vegetable, unless in an induced coma, and I doubt they person only eats comatose fish.

Religious people do seem to need it, that’s right. The prison population is one tenth of one percent atheist despite the proportion of atheists in the unincarcerated population being hundreds of times higher. It’s not like atheists are committing crimes and then start believing in a god after they get locked up, in any significant amount. It’s not even the fact that atheists get extra persecution in prison and are just pretending to believe in prison to get the same perks as the religious - because when the federal prison system allowed atheists to identify as humanists in order to receive some of the same benefits as those who identify with a religion, not very many of them did so.

Please do keep being religious, if you truly believe that you are only capable of caring about the well-being of other humans when under divine threat. Most of us can work out the golden rule and how to be empathetic as children by recognizing the shared human experience in others.

You run an Android device older than 12 years that is running Android 11? That’s pretty good, what device? I didn’t think they were designed with 8 years of OS forward compatibility (Android 11 released in 2020 and you mentioned it as the version you’re having issues with playing a game on).

It’s hard to find a therapist who meshes well with you and can help you make progress, but a busted Lenovo takes to Arch better than Saint Louis.

And .ods in LibreOffice Calc has been great for me, and lightning fast. There’s nothing I can think of that makes me want to go back to Excel.

Why would you have a 4090 in the non-gaming one? A 2 or 3 generation old laptop used for $150 can idle Linux far below 120W and run most things as fast as a current gen Windows machine. I have my pc and my work laptop both plugged into a huge monitor with 2 buttons to switch input, and ShareMouse to share the same keyboard and mouse. I preferred Synergy, and then the Barrier fork, and then the Input-Leap fork because they are freeware, but they took away local admin and sudo permissions on the work computer, so I needed an alternative that didn’t need elevated privileges and don’t want a hardware KVM switch.
