Unfortunately the last bulk I bought was from Amazon a year ago but I just checked and Otto has them too. Although don’t expect them to be “original” Bundeswehr socks, I have no idea if they have ever been purchased by the German army, and searching for “German army socks” gives you tons of different results. Anyway I found these are very durable, comfortable and dirt cheap, so can recommend them. :)
I’ve spend a lot on fancy high tech trekking socks for outdoor stuff (like 20€ a pair) before I discovered German army socks that are just as good but sold in bulk for like 2-3€ a pair, very comfortable and stretchy so they fit multiple sizes. They’re probably not to your taste but I just checked the company selling them and they also have these more civil looking and advertised as extra wide comfort socks for like 5€ a pair, might be worth a try.

Apparently the old CEO was fired after like a hundred years of running the company because he opposed anything technology and apparently didn’t even own a computer himself, the new one did very sharp turnaround according to the video.

Question is if they’ll go public and make their services available for everyone, not just big businesses.

What European brands do you recommend?81·23 hours agoQuick search says Thüros and Asamodo are made in Germany, but if you enough garden space and it doesn’t need to be mobile I’d recommend just building your own permanent BBQ for super cheap, all you need is some bricks and mortar or even just some rocks for a fire pit and a tripod, it’s a fun little project and also way more fun to grill that way. ;)
I don’t have a go-to website, I just search “appname patched apk” or something. Although by now I stopped using those apps altogether.

Now they’re leaving for Europe as seniors3·2 days agoThat’s one way to see it, but if I came from Reddit looking for an alternative and found that people are just talking about Reddit here I’d see little reason to make the switch. Kinda gives me “jealous ex who can’t let go” vibes. Don’t know about one or two posts per week, I didn’t count but it just feels like a lot more to me.
I’ve tried both storygraph and bookwyrm but couldn’t really figure out what they’re good for, ended up using openreads, an offline app that’s not connected to any service and just lets you keep track of your books for yourself.

Well basically use ad-blockers in your browsers and get patched APKs of apps you use that don’t show ads so they don’t make money off you even if you still use their services.

I just watched Borderline, the ~20th remake of The Bridge, this one’s set in the border region of Ireland/Northern Ireland. It’s not great but not super terrible either.
Then I watched 3 commisaire Dupin movies that are currently available on German public broadcasting streaming sites. Again not exactly blockbusters, I mostly watched them cause I read all the books and I like the nice landscape shots in Bretagne. :)
Basically I’m just watching all the crime series they got on ZDF.de lately.
EDIT: Almost forgot, I was randomly browsing dailymotion.com (French owned YouTube alternative) and found that they apparently aren’t super strict about copyright and such shenanigans, stumbled over classic British comedy Saving Grace there and watched it. :)

Hadn’t had time to check out all the benefits though but KOreader seems really nice and just sending epubs to your Kindle w/o Amazon in the middle is nice too.
I’m not a lawyer, but my understanding is that as soon as there is a anything on the website that could (even just in theory) help you make a single cent, it’s considered commercial. Any ad banner, an affiliate link or in case of your author partner a link to their books on amazon or wherever is probably enough to be considered commercial. I honestly wouldn’t take any risk there, especially as an author. 1 single hater is enough to cost you up to 5k€.
That ghost archive site somehow only archived the paywall. Here is another link https://archive.is/JFLYk and the original page actually worked for me too, at least better that that ghost thing: https://www.thestar.com/news/world/why-this-french-tech-company-wants-to-build-an-internet-that-doesn-t-have-to/article_f996f5f8-bb97-4aa4-8a5b-fce551f14faf.html
