As a shit golfer - yes, a sleeve of golfballs is always welcome. I’ll lose them soon enough and always need more.
Fleddit in June 2023. Was on kbin for a while but it’s been broken and janky lately, so I’m giving midwest.social a try now.

Seconding this experience with Mint 21.3, although on a laptop here. I just wanted something that works without much fucking about, and it delivers.
I’m guessing it has 3GB of ram and 256MB is being eaten due to being shared video memory.
Now that gaming is effectively a solved problem thanks to Proton, Adobe Lightroom is just about the only thing keeping my desktop PC on Windows. My laptop is already running Linux. I’ve tried the FOSS alternatives but none of them fits my workflow like Lightroom. This is a me problem more so than a problem with any of these pieces of software.
Same here, except on Mint. Once it becomes stable with Cinnamon I’ll be happy to use it.
Some form of Novell-era Suse Linux when I was in college… 20 years ago. I didn’t get it back then. Mint is my daily driver today.
I left reddit last year during the API bullshit. 4chan is full of cancer, and Lemmy is pretty much the next biggest community that I could find. I’m also on a couple of smaller sites like Discuit and Tildes.
I have a large box of random cables, probably half of which are totally obsolete. Might need 'em someday.
It seems that most modern games aren’t made for people like me any more. I don’t care for multiplayer, and will not be buying any DLC or microtransaction shit. I just want a self-contained, high-quality single-player experience. There’s maybe a couple of games per year released that catch my interest now.
Interesting - I’ll try that as soon as a 6.6 kernel becomes available in Mint. Seems like 6.5.0-21 is the newest they offer right now.
I can see the same SSID on all three bands now in wavemon, but my computer only connects to it on the 5GHz band, channel 40.
I just got the email about this today. My account had maybe 30k comment karma and 2k post karma. I deleted all of my stuff and haven’t been back to Reddit since last summer’s fiasco. Guess they’re not getting the uptake they expected on this bullshit, heh.
I’ve been working from home about 90% of the time since the pandemic lockdown era. I had a cheap office chair and had noticed my back starting to hurt after a few hours in it per day. I eventually wound up getting a Humanscale Freedom headrest chair, which has been awesome. These chairs are stupid expensive, but I bought mine used, and reeking of the previous owner’s perfume. It took months for the smell to completely go away, but I saved about $1,000 over buying one new, and it is otherwise in mint condition.
bet these shares come with no voting rights.
Yeah, I only remember even being asked to reboot after kernel updates, and it isn’t forced.
Windows’ approach now being ‘everything is a cumulative update, lol’ is what I suspect makes it take so long for the updates to actually install now.
Popeye Doyle in The French Connection. Sure he’s the protagonist, but he’s also a huge piece of shit.
Another Mint + Thinkpad vote here. I’m a lifelong Windows user who has occasionally dabbled in Linux, and Mint is the first distro that I’ve stuck with enough to consider it my daily driver. I have it running on a used Thinkpad T14 Gen 2 with an AMD Ryzen 7 in it. I still have a separate Windows desktop for gaming and Adobe Lightroom, but the Thinkpad is my everyday couch PC now. Everything worked out of the box except for the infrared camera used for face unlock type stuff, and the fingerprint reader. I got the camera set up to use the Linux equivalent of Windows Hello, Howdy, and while it does work now it’s not as fast and reliable as it was under Windows. I haven’t even tried to set up the fingerprint reader yet. I’m very happy with how well everything works in general under Linux Mint.
Yeah, places with lots of sunshine are more likely to do stuff like this. I recently visited Tucson, AZ, and the amount of solar panel coverage all over the place was very impressive. Both rooftops and parking lots.
