A few of the best books I’ve read I just didn’t finish because I didn’t want that closure on the story.
Plenty of bad books. Didn’t finish those either. But, they’d usually get put down sooner and not really thought about, later.

Honestly, i’ve always approached this question the reverse of how it’s posed here. Pretty much every store brand whatever is just fine.
But, picking a few fancier versions of things as exceptions is nice sometimes.

Lately for me, Kingdom aged organic cheddar and Kerrygold butter have been my indulgences. I don’t eat much dairy, so they last me a long time. They’re loaded with flavor. And, it’s just nice to have a few things that feel special.

If the teacher is going to basically plagarize the assignment and I’ve already done it elsewhere to the best of my ability, how the hell am I supposed to do anything other than resubmit the work I’d done for that assignment the first time?

That doesn’t make sense to me. Even after reading the below referenced wikipedia section on self plagiarism, it seems a contested topic and kinda ridiculous.

Wasn’t referring to what Meta could do or even necessarily that there’s an issue with Lemmy’s software. More that there’s a bunch of servers with various configurations without resources dedicated to intrusion detection, mitigation or reporting. If something did happen at a server level to a hobbyist instance there’s no reason to believe users or maybe even the persons running the instance would know about it.

Probably. Not sure if this will do it. But there’s inherent privacy concerns in having a bunch of relatively insecure silos interoperating as a semi-social network even if most of us do so with varying degrees of anonymity. For the moment, most of us are here to avoid corporate overreach so motivations are in a certain degree of alignment. But it’s just a matter of time before something goes wrong or the winds change in an unforeseen way.

Is there anyway to implement (without spinning up your own private instance) the ability for individual users to opt out of federation of their content to certain instances, or would that introduce too much overhead and complication?

I read fiction for a certain amount of enjoyment, but also to prepare for conversation with people when it’s required in the near future.

Didn’t sign a write-up I got on purpose and got fired on the spot, because I needed additional time for finals at school. Got my job back under union rules because lack of progressive discipline. Left for a better job 6 months later when I graduated.

Manager was pissed. But he couldn’t do shit.

Ego has been mentioned. Sunk cost fallacy plays a part. Combine those and people tend to over value the effort they’ve made to form their opinion, either through some form of information consumption or synthesis of known ideas/held opinions, while devaluing/doubting the existence other people’s previous efforts. So, you often end up with two people who both think they’re informed and assume the other person is just making up an opinion right now and failing to see their valuable insight.

Usually abdominal pain, severe indigestion and/or diarrhea. Being barely able to eat and actually digest enough normal food to survive along with near constant stabbing pains to the gut have really helped me stave off any concern of over eating and obesity… It’s terrible. Don’t recommend. And junk food makes it worse. Which just sucks more cuz that shit is delicious.
