Not only that, but there are so many variations and ways to modify your equipment that it takes a while to really figure out. Every time I go back out of curiosity it ends up being the same colors and numbers game, so I get frustrated and quit.

I think that’s only possible with laminated wood, and apparently it’s made thick and dense enough that fire affects it more slowly than normal. From my understanding it’s a safe building material.
Have you looked at big-ass computer monitors? They probably have a lot of things you don’t want, but I’ve yet to see a smart one. Maybe a cheap one would fit the bill?
