My printer worked out of the box under Windows no driver or anything needed. Maybe I got lucky.

I think for many people, me included the OS is more or less invisible bc I use so few OS elements. File browser and that’s it. Hardly any other gui feature comes to mind that isn’t a third party program.
For me it’s simply laziness, and the fact that I don’t use the OS apart from explorer. I think that’s the thing for a lot of people the actively use so few parts of the OS that the question wether the OS is intrusive, bloatware free or efficient isn’t part of their concern. They, me included, don’t tinker, don’t optimize, don’t script etc. I just start the programs thati use. I probably will give Linux another go with my next PC build though.
I have a Garmin viomove hybrid, I use it to count steps, count my swimming and see how much I sleep. I wouldn’t want a smarter watch out of trust issues. Battery life still sucks 3-4 days but the analog watch works if the smart watch part is dead.
I started swimming once a week, last December. That really works for me bc I love the build in cooling system. Sure it has its annoyances but overall it’s my favorite sport, plus almost daily cycling cause I don’t own a car and live in a very cyclable city.
It’s exceptionally will designed and programmed in my experience. UX and UI design is very professional.
Why is everybody so obsessed with tweaking and customizing an OS?! My systems are pretty much vanilla and apart from the file browser I hardly use any active OS features.
