There’s a lot to unpack here.

Lets start with the attempt to define “usefulness” as the degree to which connection to humans happens. Human connection on the internet has always been illusory. Yet we still find utility in it.

“Trusted sources” have always been 100% biased in favor of whoever owns them. We all have equal free speech rights, but some of us are more free than others because the ability to purchase a bigger megaphone scales with access to capital.

Organized, capitalized propaganda farms existed before LLMs and have been engaged in the same kind of destructive information warfare. LLMs seem to be more persuasive than the wage-slave humans employed by troll farms and other mass media outlets, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing if it manufactures a more rational public opinion.

LLMs lower the capital requirement to begin competing in the propaganda war. The biggest players who could afford to buy enormous media empires and fund human-generated influence operations are going to have to compete against the rest of us.

This planet has been a soulless hellscape longer than any of us have been alive, and LLMs are more likely to improve the situation than make it worse.

This is #1 for me. Its easy to spot, and they won’t be able to hide it because it would drive them nuts to admit fault.

There’s a lot of state sponsored propaganda from right wing, authoritarian countries that pay lip-service to popular communist ideas to keep the dictator in power.

A lot of the noise comes from just a few of the users, so for the moment its easy enough to just block them all.

The culture war would have taken a different direction, but the class war would continue unabated. The owners of the Republicans and the Democrats are all on the same side in the class war.

Key elements would include:
-design a factory/macro-economy to produce aerospace components & weapons similar to Factorio
-using those components, design vehicles that obey real-ish physical laws similar to KSP
-arm those vehicles and use them as units in Real Time Strategy with the option to take First Person control of individual units

Turning your fan around solved both problems. It increased the volume of air flow, and decreased the relative humidity of the air flow.

I wasn’t using bluetooth with 7, so you could be right. But if I need to fiddle with wifi beyond just changing what AP I’m connected to, the network settings I typically want to look at, eg disabling adapters or manually setting an IP address, were available in fewer steps in 7 versus 10.

Yeah, every UI change since 7 has been for the worse, increasing the number of steps required to get work done.

On a sufficiently large billiards table, it does become hard to prove that some balls don’t spontaneously sink themselves.
