I recently had to login in to update to a new 2FA app and oh my was it a wasteland. No one I had followed was still on it. And I mean that after scrolling for 5 minutes. It was just terrible.

As a hiring manager I look for a few things:
Skills are waaaaay down on the list. I can take avg technical proficiency and make you a lot more successful than someone with a lot of proficiency but lacks other emotional skills.
noc.social is a small but quick server. Don’t use Android so I can’t speak to that.
And I will say that I’ve got much better engagement on Mastodon than I ever did Twitter. The people overall are kinder and more thoughtful. It’s more likely that the disrupters just aren’t there yet. Almost everyone I had followed on Twitter is on Mastodon though. May not be the same for everyone.
Oh interesting.
This exactly. I was saying that as a user, not a creator. I make money away from social media so I don’t care to bring that to my personal space.
This exactly. Don’t know how else to describe it. Most people don’t realize it’s even possible.
My experience has been better. User engagement is much higher per follower and the discussions don’t devolve. They’re much more useful and/or interesting. KPIs don’t measure everything.
Whistling. Took decades and I can do it two different ways (lips and teeth). I now do it subconsciously when listening to music where I’ll typically add other melodies or harmonies. I can bird call pretty much flawlessly. Loudest I get is over 100dB. Average is low 90s. Not much use but it’s fun.
Classic movies, usually from TCM. I love classics but they’re often fantastic to fall asleep to with their slower stories and quieter dialog.
Harry!? (Hood!) Harry!? (Hood!) Where do you go when the lights go out!?
Black Mesa /// I’m F’d.
Love the aspect ratio and framing. #movieframe
The cost barrier of entry is decently high though. Fly fishing is a huge rabbit hole for sure. I’ve never been but one of my coworkers goes almost weekly.
And if you don’t flash drives/micro SD cards are dirt cheap and stupid fast these days. May as well be external storage in an easy to loose stick or microSD card.
I’ve never had a problem playing my collection of old games I used to own externally.
That definitely wasn’t implied. Thanks for clarifying.
When people talk about loving someone they usually do so with the intent of conveying a feeling of attraction. Real love is actually an action:
That’s what I’m saying. As in pushing or pulling a piece of paper around. Apple 100% got this right. Figuring it still works like a scroll wheel, which manipulated the scroll bar) is not natural.
