Kinda irrelevant, but get fucked Eggslut. Worst place to work for, owners are a bunch of liars and have terrible management practices. This is absolutely killing them and I love that for them.

Yokozuna@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you have any tips or tricks to fall asleep?4·6 months agoImagine a place where you are most cozy and visit it every night when you try to sleep. And then maybe sound machines. And finally, deep breathing. Slowing your heart down through this will physically make your body want to go to sleep (so basically meditiation).
I do all of these in tandem, I have the sound machine going and I settle into my cozy part of my brain and then imagine my lungs as a cup filling up with water to the top while inhaling and then draining out as I exhale. The trick with this is to not stress yourself thinking about if you’re doing your breathing right, just try and relax and focus.
Also melatonin. But that isn’t effective for every situation.
Good luck.
Yokozuna@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why are the freemasons often the target of conspiracy theories?102·6 months agoTo my personal knowledge of them, just a bunch of businessmen who jerk each other off basically.
If one freemason owns a business, and another finds out they do and they also have a business - there will be some sort of service from one company or the other so they can make each other money. Basically, they just support members and will give them preferential treatment over someone they don’t know.
More Nihilist than anything, if that can be considered a religion. I don’t know if there is anything past this life for us, so I can’t say for sure, so I just go with no. But obviously, I hope I’m so wrong. One day, the sun is gona expand far enough to engulf the whole earth. Literally, nothing will have ever mattered at that point. Makes my life a little easier every day when I think about pressures and stresses. A lot of people would think the opposite, but it allows me to live more in the moment. I don’t need some external pressure of being good or bad to determine how I treat people. I just do it because being nice is the right thing to do in most scenarios in life.

The entree gets frozen, but grains and veggies should be cooked when preparing it to eat. That sounds easy enough, heavy lifting is done and pasta/rice/veggies are really easy. Thanks for the tip!
Yokozuna@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone else cook a whole meal hungry and upon finishing, you don't want to eat it at all?3·7 months agoSounds like a palatte cleanse for the nose lol. I planned on getting a coffee grinder soon so when I have some beans hanging around and it happens I’ll give this a try as well.
Yokozuna@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone else cook a whole meal hungry and upon finishing, you don't want to eat it at all?3·7 months agoMeal prepping always has been something I would like to do. I’m getting to a point in life where I can work that into how I do things as well. I just have to figure out some dishes, that like you said freeze well. Any suggestions?
Yokozuna@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone else cook a whole meal hungry and upon finishing, you don't want to eat it at all?2·7 months agoI know the feeling all too well. Even my little Italian grandmother does it when she cooks a big meal for the family.
Yokozuna@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone else cook a whole meal hungry and upon finishing, you don't want to eat it at all?1·7 months agoIt is basically impossible for me to cook for one person unless it’s a burger and fries type situation. I find it hard to cook for just myself as well.
Yokozuna@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone else cook a whole meal hungry and upon finishing, you don't want to eat it at all?2·7 months agoIt really tracks I feel like, the stuff I made last night that I couldn’t stand… I can’t wait to tear into for dinner tonight. It’s a fucked up world hahaha.
Yokozuna@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone else cook a whole meal hungry and upon finishing, you don't want to eat it at all?3·7 months agoIt’s not that I’m cooking food I don’t like. It does happen more often when the food I make isn’t exactly what I want at the moment, but it’s what I have. It could happen with basically anything though, doesn’t really matter the quality of food - after I’ve cooked it for however long I just might not want it anymore.
Yokozuna@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone else cook a whole meal hungry and upon finishing, you don't want to eat it at all?5·7 months agoThere are definitely a few foods I can do that with, you’re playing a dangerous game lol. But there are also some foods I think I can’t do it with, like gumbo and red beans and rice, and after the 3rd day I’m so over it even if I thought it was delicious the first two days.
Yokozuna@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone else cook a whole meal hungry and upon finishing, you don't want to eat it at all?5·7 months agoYea that might have something to do with it as well, as I mentioned in another comment I just ordered some yellow thai curry because it’s my comfort food, I might try to pick that up or Indian food does sound nice. Chicken vindaloo…uuuuuugh.
Yokozuna@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone else cook a whole meal hungry and upon finishing, you don't want to eat it at all?4·7 months agoYea, I get that completely, I did it a loooooot on the line in the kitchen. Honestly I would rather eat like that most of the time, a Frenchman would be horrified lol.
But being full from pecking at your dishes is totally different from not wanting to eat food you’ve just cooked for yourself like you said.
Yokozuna@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone else cook a whole meal hungry and upon finishing, you don't want to eat it at all?18·7 months agoI’m really not associating the act of cooking with work, I really enjoy it actually, I think it’s more of the smell fatigue you mention. I’ve already ordered my comfort food (yellow thai curry), but next time it happens, I’ll give that a try. Because it’s not like I’m not hungry, I just look at it, and I’m like damn I would rather starve than eat this.
Yokozuna@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why does Mississippi issue different plates for each county?2·7 months agoYep, police out there are predatory as fuck. They know it’s low income and they’ll harass any poor soul they can.
Yokozuna@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Lemmings of Lemmy who came over from Reddit what do you miss about Reddit and what do you not miss?14·11 months agoThe few things that I’m into and their related subs. Those communities here are next to nothing, and even when I post, there is no engagement. There’s just no one there.
I do not miss the cesspool of comments and the shitty moderation. I’m sure it’s only gotten so much worse since I’ve left.
Yokozuna@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Has community engagement dropped off suddenly?1·1 year agoYea, I try to be as nice as I can on the internet. There’s no reason to be an ass other than you’re miserable and want other people to be as well.
It’s a mixed bag though, I’ve had some people be assholes but I ignore them if they have nothing of substance to say and focus on the positive communications.
Also, blocking the Linux communities really helped my feed. Idk what it is about the Linux superiority complex. Although I feel like most of it comes from a good place, the delivery of the information usually isn’t the best.
Generally, the staff and vibes are cool. I met some great people working there. They like to put up that front that they’re trying to be cool and edgy. I was a cook for a long time at that point and flipping eggs isn’t exactly hard or special, but they made it this big ordeal, which is fine but you can’t look me in the face and tell me that what we’re doing here is a culinary feat.
With me, I worked at their GCM location in L.A. and they were opening up a new spot in Glendale. They asked me to help open up the store under the stupilation that if I worked for so long and did ‘X’ things, I would get a promotion. When it came time for the raise and I had completed what they asked of me, I was constantly told it would happen, but they would give me the run around. Until finally someone else in the store was eligible as well, so instead of just giving us both the position they made us do a ‘cook off’ and when me and the other persons food came back exactly alike and they couldn’t discriminate the begrudgingly gave me a portion of what they promised.
I cooked for them well, did what they asked of me, and came in on time so they couldn’t fire me unless they wanted to pay me unemployment or maybe have me file a fucking lawsuit for unlawful termination. I just didn’t play ball with their bullshit and didn’t let them walk over me because they left such a bad taste in my mouth with my inital (verbal) offer being essentially reneged upon and they didn’t like that at all. So they just made my job hell until I left. L.A. was hands down the worst place to cook. I’m sure there are a lot of opportunities there for people, but man if you aren’t taken advantage of at every turn…
Oh, also. When L.A. raised their minimum wage, the store in Glendale didn’t get the raise because it wasn’t in L.A. and the whole store went on strike because of it. Don’t know what happened with it. I just heard it second hand from an old coworker.
These fuckers are opening places all over THE WORLD and they nickle and dime their employees and generally treat them like shit. Fuck Jaime, and all of the owners (they were nice in person but they pulled the strings to make our lives hell).
Edit: forgot to say, glad you enjoyed your pancakes ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
