I’d rather not stop eating…
Depends on your definition, but most foods are healthier than not eating.
How I’ve learned it is, that cognitive dissonance arises when one of your beliefs or behaviours is challenged by new information. This can make you uncomfortable, and to alleviate that, people have coping mechanisms. It’s probably these coping mechanisms which cause other people to say you suffer from cognitive dissonance. There’s a quite good Wikipedia article on this imo.
We hada Philips and a Dyson, which were in our opinion trash. We now have a Nilfisk for the last five/six years, holds really well.
I’m gonna knit a brown sweater. If you guess what I’m gonna do, I’ll let you have half of it.
She picked me up in a bar. Been married for 23 years now
Windows 10 or 11 on all (three) day to day systems. Linux Mint on an old laptop which is hardly ever used, and windows xp on an ancient laptop that’s only used as music player, and not connected to any network.
If you really want to go that route, skip this book and read “poor man’s James Bond”.
That’s probably why they’re modern design principles, UI’s were relatively new in 1999, and most people who used computers still knew how to work with the command line.
Same here, gets you an adequate phone which will last me at least 3 to 4 years. (I usually have to buy new because I broke the old one through my own fault)
I think that for a technological civilization to rise, you need some things to line up. First, life has to be evolved enough to have animals, beings with a brain. Then, a species has to evolve intellence to become a tool making species. This species also has to become the dominating species on the planet. Meanwhile, extinction events, ice ages, climate change and population bottlenecks are always influencing the evolution process.
This is for me the great filter, to have all these conditions line up perfectly for an intelligent, tool making species to evolve and thrive.
It’s probably a great hobby, with pleasantly little potential to turn into a side hustle.
Depends of your view of a long history I guess, I worked with OSX 10.5 for a few years, every time I wanted to install something I had to update the OS first.
The easiest to learn is the kazoo in my experience.
More serious: reading music isn’t nessecary to learn how to play an instrument. For instance, guitar can be played using tabs or even chord progressions.
The site kissthisguy.com used to be a great source for this, but unfortunately today it’s mostly a place for lyrics which may also fit the song.
For me all the things you said about GIMP, but my biggest issue is how layers work in it. It is totally unintuitive to me. Last week I tried to edit some simple image in GIMP, basically pasting some small objects and touching them up. I couldn’t get it to work properly, and would probably have redone it in Photoshop if it was to be used by more than three people for a short period.
I was confused, teef is the Dutch word for bitch (as in female dog).
I had a Wordpress blog set up like that once, and it should still be possible. Although you might get a lot of spammers that way. I did this 15-20 years ago, on Wordpress 2.0. Edit: just checked on my test install, it still works.
Calorie restriction is not the same as not eating.
