I’m in New Orleans (so, a Texas neighbor?) and they canceled school and closed most of the major bridges because it rained the day it was getting colder. So, there was ice on the roads and bridges freeze quicker.
The biggest hassle (besides finding childcare) is that our homes are often raised off the ground and it barely ever freezes. So, you have exposed water pipes that can freeze and potentially burst when it gets that cold. You’re supposed to leave a faucet on a steady stream while it’s below freezing, which is basically always just a few hours overnight.
We don’t have the same issues as Texas with power in hot/cold weather. I think those are about policy choices unique to Texas.

Why does Texas so overwhelmingly vote for this crap? Do they ever get tired of losing for the sake of “owning” teh Libz?!
